evening.
i've been staring myself blind on this one now so i'll post it for some crits.

i've been working with this style before and i love it. feels so right.
i used a photoreference, it's not 100% likeness but that wasn't what i was aiming for either, i just wanted it to look cool

the guy on the picture is as mentioned Peter Tgtgren, he's the founder, guitarrist, singer and writer in the swedish death metal band Hypocrisy. he is also behind the band Pain which has become quite poular. ohh, this forum is not about music forgot, sorry.

Hi there my fellow swedish guy!
Very nice, dark and loaded with expression... I like it, the style is cool. Ive been working with this kind of style too, not exactly the same but with the characteristic(?spell?) shading. I suck at shading the "natural" way...
Keep up the good work.

naah, dimmu borgir is such a bunch of posers i use to listen to Cannibal Corpse. it's loaded with energy and not very disturbing when you're drawing.

ohh yeah! fear factory is awesome.. such intense powerful energy. one thing that i find good when drawing to death metal is that you can sync the lines you draw to the beat of the drums, i often do this
the music gives me energy.

hell yeah i totally agree...i think most artists draw to music...i mean it totally controls the way you draw, think and feel. I have yet to draw a pic in total silence...almost interesting to see what it will turn out like...

btw what were you listening to when you drew this pic?

wow, it is by far not realistic but therefore, it is so athmospheric... i like it. seems to incarnate the more mad sides of mr. tgtgren.

as for which music is playing when i draw:
hypocrisy (absolute dm favourite), mayhem, limbonic art, therion (absolute gothic favourite), the sins of thy beloved, thorns, zyklon, nocte obducta, but also iron maiden or stratovarius.
besaides all the hard'n heavy stuff i like to listen to orchestral music (for example final fantasy 8 orchestral soundtrack, jummy) or neofolk acts like hagalaz# runedance, von thronstahl, der blutharsch and also blood axis (no, i don't like their ideologic background, i just like their music...)

maceface: humm, i can't remember really, i think it was anathema, quite calm death metal, not very disturbing

gekitsu: thanks alot, that's exactly what i was aiming for
actually, i met Peter Tgtgren at a bar in stockholm a couple of weeks ago and he looks just as evil in reality
Dark Funeral was there performing, they sucked. Peter was only adjusting their guitars, odd

strata: thanks
nej, bertta! vem r johan sderstrm?!
