Not exactly something that typically gets posted here... (or maybe it does... it's been a while).
I thought I would share something I whipped up while fighting some insomnia. Took roughly a half-hour to do using Illustrator, ElectricImage 3D and Photoshop.
800x600 JPEG (150k)
Time to get some zzzZZZs.
Cheers,

Is Electric Image 3D a good 3D package? How much is it? |

Hey all,
Thanks for the responses.
I rendered two 8.5 x 11 images at 300 dpi: the background tunnel, and the disc. Total render time was roughly 5 minutes. I comped the two together in Photoshop.
ElectricImage3D is currently available in two versions: the full production version (ElectricImage Universe 3.0) which is around $795 I believe. It comes in three flavours: Mac, Win and Unix.
The version I own is the "dvGarage 3D toolkit" version which is generally a learning version or ElectricImage version 2.9.3 for only $199. However it is only for the Mac, for now at least. The only limitation is the inability to add 3rd party plug-ins. Once you upgrade to the 3.0 production version, it's no holds barred. (EI Universe 4.0 is coming out very soon and is going to have tons more features).
I can't truly convey how much I love the program... it's a very fast renderer, it chews high-poly models like it's nothing. I only use a 400 mhz iMac and it runs like the wind.
Cheers
