Er, hello. This is my first post, so hopefully I'll get it right! Anyway, here's my little picture:
It was done on a laptop using the little eraser-like dot they give you for a mouse. I'm hoping I'll get a tablet for my birthday.
Critics and comments welcome. |

Hmm... you guys are right, it could use some more work. I guess I lose my patience sometimes. Thanks for the tip on adding some more bright lighting, I think that will really help it.
*Kaete wiggles her fingers, getting ready to work* I guess if I change it, it'll be work in progress and I should put it on that page, right?
Thanks again! ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

This is just something I whipped up to illustrate [i hope] what ascan was talking about...and add my own thoughts.
I'm sorry, I only have a mouse at the office, and my WACOM is still in Hawaii. Or this'd look a lot better.
The whiter spots pick up the contrast a lot. But I noticed after I added the white spots, that there were no real core shadows in the picture...mostly mid-tones and medium shadows.
I used a purply color to indicate generally what you might do to up your contrast a little. Adding cast shadows and casting a shdow on a wall or tree or something in the background would add depth and life to this pic.
Also, consider that if you are going to use that glowing ball as your primary lightsource, that things closest to the lightsource will be much lighter and brihgter than things that are farther away from it.
Again, sorry about the sloppiness, I just wated to help out.
