I would change the fuzzy airbrush looking background it takes away rather than ad to the very nice character.

I really wanted to emphasize the character so i blurred the background in order to define him, im just messing around with techniques at the moment. |

that's a good goal, however there are much better ways to emphasize your charecter, infact that's the whole goal of graphic design - to understand how to make the viewer feel like, look at and look away from whatever you want them to,
here are some good sources
http://www.graphicdesignbasics.com/
or the examples on Ron Lemen's old site (freddy flickstone on the board if he ever comes back)
at - http://www.geocities.com/lemenayd/page2.html
it's a slow loader, but scroll down you'll see some great helpfull stuff |

You do great job!
My English is short.
But I want to talk about your pic.
I want my words helps you.
The perspective of sword is not correct,I think. It heads inward, but if you change that outward, it will be look more dynamic.
It's just my thought. |

yes hes an alien thats why his skin is a blue/grey colour, i suppose hes actually rather skinny underneath all that armour, just coz i called him a space marine doesnt mean that he floats around in space all the time. |

don't use so much highlight tool
your colours are nice, but it is too blurry
try to sharpen up your image.
but good concept! |

Im leaving this piece for the meantime, im just trying to get as much experience in digital art as i can, so im trying my best at a whole range of styles and subjects, the space marine was my second attempt at digital art and i feel ive learned quite a lot from creating him.
can anyone sugest another topic that i could delve into? |

Your texturing of worn metal armours pretty good. Could try some wierd 20-foot tall alien bio-mechanical bipedal mech? |

the reason it looks so blury is because the image is twice the size it should be, your more or less zoomed in on the pixels.
the bio-mechanical thingy ma bob sound interesting but i was thinking about a hi-tech female assassin, probably ben done a few thousand times but what the hey. |
