Awhile back, right before the forums went down I had asked duck if I could color two of his pieces, so here there are. Took awhile and this are my first true digital color-overs. Let me know what you guys think and what could be improved. Hope you guys like it, and duck thanks for letting me have a go at this.
They are Rather big in size btw.

hmmm my honest opinion is that the second one is better. I find that there isnt enough contrast and highlight to draw my attention to anyhting in the pics.
I guess I wouldnt mind seeing different shades of the skin colors appropriate to the area of the body. (if that makes any sense, whatsoever)
for instance, I think the faces should be a lighter color, with maybe hints, or hues, of say pink, to add a lifelike tone. maybe reflect some of the skin color on the armor and vise versa.
Those are my non-professional suggestions ofcourse.. but hey I replied didnt I? |

I think you need to limit you're color palette a litte, the range here is too large.
Stick to maybe 2 or 3 at most, I think that would help to a large degree, my eyes are just jumping all over the place because each part of their bodies (especially the 2nd one) is a different color almost.
But overall not too bad, it's a little diffictult maybe to color something like this because of the detail and values involved.
Keep it up! |

Hey cool deal, thanks guys
I did run into some sort of a dilema when coloring them. I still wanted to keep all the line art intact so I didn't go too wild on the shade and tone variation, which I think I should have; and I did go a little overboard with the colors, so much detail in his drawings that I wanted everything to stand out. I'll take a break from them and probably come back and refine them both.
Thanks again. |

I like the second one a hundred times more. I think what would really help these is to give them more contrast. Make some of the colors really *pop*... give some bold highlights and shadows to bring forward the important elements. Things are a bit muddled right now. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Great, thanks again for the input guys.
I'll definitely work on adding more highlights and make them stand out. |
