Geez, in two months, I didn't realize how much my art has come along. Anyways, I've got a whole slew of work to post. Let me just place some of the better ones. All the others are at my site (www.cicinimoart.com)

Seems really old now. Only two months though o_O

there's first ever go at a color painting with only the paintbrush tool.

theres my second try with that technique

there's my third go at the same technique.

One of the MANY sketches I did over the downtime.

Alright, these last two take a little explaining. At my website, I'm doing this thing I'm calling 'weekly character'. Basically, I take character requests in my forum; roleplayers, writers, etc describe their characters to me, and I choose one a week to illustrate. I've done this two week so far. Its encouraging me to constantly be drawing (that and my weekly sketch I also do for the site)

Obviously, its to much to critique. At least, if possible tell me whats alright, what sucks, etc.

More importantly, check my website. Opinions form any designers would be totally loved. I've also been working on improving my design skills www.cicinimoart.com Its totally changed since the last time I posted a link. Totally.

So yeah, feedback is great. *holds up sign reading 'free cookies for critics*

you're coming along incredibly well. i've always thought the mouth on that grampa was misplaced (and too small). i like the turban guy marker sketch.

Hey, thanks for these reples, guys.

Alen: I worked hard on number 6. I wanted to make a good impression on the first character

jasonN: good thing you like the two most recent...shows I'm gradually improving (thats a good thing)

Denim Atrisun: Hehe. Thanks.

Icannon: Thanks for the encouragement. Yeah, grandpa's mouth is most definately 'off'.

I love the last one, but you need to get rid of those lines on her arms. Also-- get the lines on her neck, and possibly delete some of the cords that are showing-- This is a young land we are talking about-- why would she have such high tension in her neck? Ya, grandpa has a displaced mouth, and the tiger and turban guy look great. The first guy in purple seemed a bit too feminine. It looks like you saw a woman posing and decided to change her form to a male. He looks too weak in posture and I can't take him seriously as a warrior. See how there is an implied back arch? And his cloak looks like a wonderful dress. Anyways-- I loved all of it though, but you said you wanted crits. Hope these weren't too many.

I like the various styles on show. I really like the warmth and the atmosphere of the lion pic and the detailing on the first pic is real nice.
The only crit I can make is I feel that the Boba Fett piece may look better if the background were a little darker. At the moment the lighter areas of his costume seem to blend with the bg.
Nice work.

DiXter: Thanks!

laslauk: I think you're right about the turban fellow being one of my most solid pieces. Not as detailed or worked, but not lined with mistakes like the others.

-Tepox-: what a 'cool' thing to say.

NeoFun: Ahh, thanks bro, thats what I'm talking about! I pretty much submit to the fact that you're right on about all accounts . Thanks for a thorough reply!

Axl: I'm so glad you liked the atmosphere of the lion one. A lazy ambience was my primary goal in that study. And on boba fett...you may be right. I'll mess around with that.

edible snowman: Hehe...very lumpy. Your right. Probably not a good thing.

Tinusch: Geez, no. Thats what happened last time. I couldnt get any replies based on my actual art; it all became relative.

MrLuisDiaz: Thanks!

No designer people out there that can tell me how to work on my site?

the only thing of two things for the design. add a little more space on the left side so the text isn't right on the edge, and add the comments about the pictures by the pictures.

I am a graphic designer, so I'll give you some crit.

The first thing that struck me was that everything seemed unified, colour scheme does all the work there. Browns and creams are hard to work with, so congrats you did well.

I like the weekly character, sketch, project links. they look good. Keep in mind however that they would probably work just as well even at 1/3 of that size. They would then look kinda *cute*. Planetquake style...

The main links images at the top are clear and effective (I think I have that font too). The links below that, initially I didn't even notice. I think they look a little bit cluttered. Maybe try removing the underline, that makes text look like a link. CSS will help you do that. This should unclutter things a bit. You could even think about moving them to a standard down the side list format (but its good to be different too).

The other major problem I faced was that I use 1024*768 resolution, and therefore your website stuck on the left of the screen. To solve this I suggest that you place the entire page within a table and center it within the document. That will work in any res, so your 800*600 should look the same. If you doo that then I also think you should add the same light strip from the right, to the left so it looks right in higher res.

Some of your images displayed seem to stick to the top left of that table area, have you tried centering within that area?

Generally I liked your site. It was enjoyable to browse around, easy to navigate, was consistent, and looked clean and professional. I liked the pygmy possum thingy too, nice touch!

Hope that helps.

You know I've always been impressed with your work. ;} In particular, I adore that marker-rendered man. Your tones and strokes are perfect. I am supremely jealous of that one. ...not to mention sorely lacking national geographic reference... *sigh*

As for your other pieces, I like them very much too. Your latest two are great, but somehow they're not as sophisticated as your traditional Photoshop work. I think you might be looking at comics a little too much. ;} Your armor-clad death god there is very cool. I especially like the shoulders and the spikes, as the perspective is beautifully done. I think you might need a little more perspective work/reference for the sash and other clothing tho. They seem a little too contrived.

As for your elf, she's pretty and I can't think of too much else to crit than the others here have already. Just keep practicing. You are keeping a maddening pace and at first I question you and me both how you can do such work weekly, and then I remember I don't get off from work at 3pm. ;} How I envy you.

Either way, keep up the great work, Jaime. You are doing fabulous. ;}

I think that you have a very interesting and slick style of comic art Cininimo.
My one comment I would like to make is that I think your color is a little monotone and could use a little more contrast.
I like the portarate of the older man. I like the rendering of the glasses and hair has interesting brush strokes.

Cicinimo, beautiful slick comic art style, when will you be doing comics? Whats good?-all of them. What sucks?-None. Number 2 I could do without, I mean the rendering is beautiful but it just looks like a reinterpretation of a photo which doesn't tell me anything. I get no feeling or anything, just an old man smiling. Otherwise, I love your work, (also #2, but it seems kinda just there without a purpose).I can't wait to see more and thanks for inspiring me. Later.

so I'm no designer but you seemed to be hot to get some crit on your site so here is my turn:
1.I think your color sheme is to pastel
IMHO there is a lack of contrast.I would darken you darkest brown much more...I think that will do it

2.There are pretty much mainpoints(proper english) couldn't you melt some of them together? For example '' sign guestbook'' and view guestbook'' into ''guestbook''.

Besides that it's a good site, very fast easy navigation and informative....ah well some asskicking art is there too

WOW, i love ur work! Esp the death-god dude, he looks really wicked

Anyways u want some crits? ok, heres just what i was thinking about the site:

-Too much writing everywhere, esp on the top where u have like 20 odd main links, and shouldn't the links 'gallery' 'forum' 'profile' etc be a little bigger?

-I agree with the previous comments about the contrast; needs darker/lighter tones. And i definately agree with the compostion, i think it should b centered because of ppl with large resolutions.

-I think having the 'news' pernamently whacked there on the side makes it abit annoying. . i'd rather see it go away when i start exploring the site and click on new areas.

But hey, the work is fantastic! (sorry if I critized too much, i know my website is nothing much compared to urs anyway :P )
and i hope u achieve ur goals one day!

Aye caramba! The thread is back....

Since its already up here I may as well respond

edible snowman: Hmmm, in my browser (IE 5.5) there's a about a quarter inch space between the news and that side.

Ian Jones: Hmmm, I'm about to go and try and shrink the links on the right hand side. Good point...
And since several people didn't like the way I had that secondary navigation, I suppose I'll be changing that too. And about centering the view; that's something I'm going to try. Since I use drag & drop webdevelopement software, I'll have to play around with the features to do that (netobjects fusion). Thanks for the crit! If I don't get the changes implimented with this site, I'll be redesigning my site within the next few months (its already undergone about one redesign per month since I created it three months back).

Merekat: Thanks for the critique! I read and took in everything .

Shadowman: Thanks! Working on that contrast issue....

jcFIG: Hehe...after a whole lot of learning and studying. I'd actually prefer to do realistic stuff like matte paintings and computer art ...but if was able to land a job doing comics one day, I wouldnt complain. Yeah, you're right; it is just a rendering of a photo. I wouldn't expect most people to react to it; however my grandpa was amused to see himself in brush strokes .

chip_artz: Thanks!

Duracel:

silber: 1) I'll work on that, if not on this than my next redesign. 2) Hmmm. I was just trying to minimize clicking; like having one bar where any point on the site could be reached. You may be right though...

Rohan: Thanks . No, you didn't criticize too much! I appreciate it!
