I love the smell of Sijun in the morning . . . anyway, here are a couple pieces I did during the downtime.
First, a self-portrait:
I mainly wanted to see how well some of my old acrylic habits would behave in Photo-Paint, plus I think that self-portraits are good to have around as benchmarks of one's artistic development.
Next is the final version of the Futuristic Freak Queen:
*bleh* Oh well . . . I suppose I'm happy with parts of it.

Quasar: thanks! Most of my art teachers frowned on that rendering technique, but it always been something I've enjoyed . . . its especially useful for fast-drying paints like acrylics, when you don't have time to do any blending on the canvas.
Awetopsy: I've posted the portrait at cgchannel, insidecg, and over at Francis Tsai's board . . . digitalart.org and renderosity too. Jeez, I didn't realize what a damned art pimp I was till just now
The girl was painted without any reference, so I was just guessing at where things would fall. I hate working from photographs, but I think I'm going to have to swallow my pride and start doing it when its warranted.
Thanks guys. |

There's nothing wrong with using photo-reference. Just as long as you don't trace or do a paint over.
Take it easy,

Nice stuff.
The self portrait is cool. I can see what you mean about the acrylic. Your style looks like you were using half dried paint. Acrylic tends to do that, its a fast drier.
Her right breast sticks out to her right too much. I also think her ear needs some work. It is too small, and down a bit too low.
The hair is pretty amazing! cool. For no reference you did really well. |
