Heya!
This is a cover i've been working on.
The book is a childrens horror book and involves a young boy (12-13 years old) and a ghost in a big building.
I decided to do a pretty straightforward cover with the main characters.
You might have seen the first cover I did which was rejected. It had an old man instead of the boy, but due to some editors feelings they decided to go for the boy instead of the old man. Well, well...

Any comments/critique you can come up with will be greatly appreciated.
,Boom

Great pic as always Boomstick!!

The only things that bugs me is that it looks like the boy has lipstick (too dark lips) and his left arm seems a bit short and thin.

Hope the editors likes this one better than the one with the old man!

very well rendered. my only probelem are his lips, they look like he just applied some black lip stick ( bad taste ) , maybe you should pick a color that more suits his style, 'powder pink' 'robust red' or for the more stylish 'lilyfall purple', check out your local covergirl reatiler for details.

I think the hair doesn't look quite right becuase the centre parting doesn't lineup with the nose.. i.e. the centre :\ Anyway, it's a great picture, and I saw the oe with the old man, dunno which I prefer, but if the editors prefer this one then well.. Also, he looks disturbingly like an old friend of mine!

I like both these covers, I do lean a little towards the old man though. I think it needs some dynamic lighting... It is sorta hard to explain so here ya go:

I like the concept and look. Nice color choices. The ghost looks great.

Double check the kids left arm. It looks like his elbow would be located somewhere around his bicep from the way it is bending. His hand looks like all of his fingers end at his knuckles. It may be because of the way the cloth is painted. It also makes his forearm look rubber.

Hey Boomstick,

When I first looked at your picture, I thought the flashlight beam needed some yellow or orange in it. Then I scroll down to Jucas's post and, voila! I think Jucas hit the nail on the head.

Great picture overall. For what it's worth, I also think the old man was more interesting.

Radiater.

Nice Boom...

But you have to fix that boys lips. It looks like he's wearing a dark lipstick. And the hand he's grabbing his jacket with looks a bit wierd.. it looks to me like the jacket has been glued to his fingers..

To bad the old man was rejected.. I really liked that one..

se'ya..

The eyes should be open wider, imho - he doesn't look as scared as he should be like this.
And yeah, the lighting.
