you don't waste any time! (just replied to
your thread in Disscussion)
anyway.. nice stuff
the top pic works best for me, theres a lot
happening but some excellent details, like
the little girl with the huge gloves in the
foreground!. The style reminds me a little
of the work of Josh Kirby (the discworld
cover artist) nice stuff..
the second image is a little weaker i think
Mainly because of the way i which its
been coloured, im no expert but i would have
defined the lighting and shadow more strongly
to give the pic more depth.
sorry for raping your pic but i tried
this quickly to illustrate what im talking
about...
hope ive helped a bit |

No offense taken. I also don't think you 'raped' my pic, you just gave me some pointers and I agree that they would make the image pop. I'll either use you're tip or change the hues of the wings. In any case, I'll rework it for my portfolio since I'll be out of school soon.-Later.

Good start, however, I think your characters are posed irregularly. Comic characters are posed funny sometimes in comics, but in your case, they seem to be a little bit more so. You might possible try gesture figure sketching so that you can get a more dynamic flow to your characters. Gesture drawing will teach you freer movement of your hand and the pencil and this in turn may help give the you the movement and observations about posture and structer to give your art a more natural feeling. Also, your focus point isn't really nailed down in the first piece. A few exist. A good strong focal point will help give the viewer a strong place to start and then allow the viewer to venture around without losing the intended message. Good luck. |

Nice work there! I really like the upper image. Its from BattleChasers, right? I like the older guy and the girl with the gloves. The woman and the guy behind her look a bit strange, but I cant tell why.
At all good work! |

I went ahead and viewed some of the other work on your site, I think you have a good eye for concept, however I think you need to work on your basic composition skills and manly your human proportion, At times you characters seem flat and awkward, Try using a figure drawing book for reference. Even basic animation books help you understand basic character poses. Keep up the good work, I see lots of potential.

Thanks for the crit but in case you haven't noticed I'm not going for photorealism because I find it stale. I have taken figure drawing classes and if you think my characters seem flat, it's because they're outlined and they're supposed to be stylized. I like creating things without photo reference because I find that relying too much on photo reference can be bad and take the fun out of drawing for me. As far as the awkward poses of the figures comment, I disagree but thanks anyways. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Regarding the Battlechasers drawing, some people have commented that it's Monicas mouth or the huge sagging tits but thats the way the character looks to me. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |
