Hello
I'm kinda new at drawing realistic drawings (trying to draw from photos right now to familarise myself :P).. and so would really appreciate it if you guys can help point out what's wrong with the pic Thank you
Anyway, here's the drawing (It was referenced from a photograph of Catherine Zeta Jones .. I think I mutilated her in this drawing TT~~)
This is the photograph that it was referenced from
Somehow, the stucture of her face seems rather weird (it doesn't seem balanced i think?).. and the colouring is very blotchy (how do you guys make it so nice and smooth? .. I kinda gave up from the neck onwards ;_; ) And her hair looks very dead (I can't figure out how to give it a realistic shine)... arrrgh.. ;_; Please please advise thank you ^_^
Btw, done in photoshop.
[edit]Changed image to another server and added reference pic

i think one of her eyes is slightly higher than the other. On the part about smoothness, i dunno i am trying to get that myself. So far my best guess is lots of time and light soft brushes. Hope that helped a little. She looks good still! |

without seeing the original photo, its hard to critique against it. But, from memory I think you have too much forehead. I think C.Z. Jones' hairline is lower on her head. Your drawing has the illusion of having shorter hair, and most people are used to seeing her with her long hair down. |

Thanks for the C and C
MoleculeMan : hmmm.. I'm guessing that would be her right eye that is slightly higher? I'll try to see what I can do about that ^^ Thanks!
Cruiserhead: Ahh.. I think you're right .. I'll try to edit the hair .. btw, I've added the reference photo in the origainl message. Thank you (she has shorter hair in my drawing 'cos I kinda got discouraged after drawing the face ) |

Hmmm Her left eye is a tad to close to the bridge of her nose. The Corners of the lips should be lined up to the width of the pupils. as it is.. the left eye is a tad off. The has some likeness to Catherine Zeta jones but it would look alright now as just a portrait of a woman. But since your goal was to do a Catherine Zeta Jones Portrait, I think you should have gotten a better refference with her looking right into the camera as oppose to the one u had. I can see that u were trying to compensate for the angling of her head by interpretating in your mind how she would look if she had look straight at u. And the end result isnt bad, but i think she would have a more elongated face. I think her chin could be extended lower or rather the the bottom half of the face from below her eyes down could be stretched longer abit. and correct her nose by not showing her nostrils too much. Mebbe that would help.
Just my 2 cents.
