Great job Fiona!
Hope it was done in a 3d app because it looks really three dimensional. If it was done in PS then more power to ya!
Kinda reminds me of my robot.

It's a combination of digital photography and photoshop!
Photoshop was used as a paint tool on the
object and to create some of the object parts. |

did you add the bells with photoshop? What I mean is are they taken from a photo, painted, or 3d? |

I photographed various household objects,
then combined parts of the photo's in photoshop to create the object. The platform, shadow, details, lighting etc. created in photoshop.
I work this way a lot.
Here's another example:

With the above example, I photographed the model - in wig, and the jewels.
I did a watercolour painting for the background and created the tail and effects on the mermaid in photoshop.
I prefer to use some real objects in my digital art if it's possible.
