Hiya
I posted this over in wip and got some great comments. I hope I got all of the points mentioned there covered.
I was supposed to deliver the painting on a cd today but just before I called for a delivery guy the editor called me back on the phone and put the cover on hold. Everyone at the publisher really loved it, but unfortunatly it seems they have the experience that an old man on a cover doesn't sell the book. Which basically means back to the drawingboard for me! Bullocks!!!
Anyways, here it is. The text is just something I threw in to show the layouter how I had envisioned placement of the title... Comments are as always very much welcome!
,Boom

thanks guys!
The old man will still be used, luckily, since I used like 70% of time on him. He will be seperated and used on the back of the book. The ghost will stay and I have to do another one of the characters in the book instead of the old man. I will get paid additionally since it was based on a skecth they accepted in the first place. The old man is holding some kind of walking stick... Others have commented on the walking stick, but since the old man is going to the back of the book, I won't be doing more work on him!

Looks great! I do have a couple of suggestions. I thought since you had to do another one any way, it would be allright if I did a paint over. I hope this is OK. Here it goes... I played with the size relationship and gave the ghost a little more head room. I also did some tricky blurry stuff to create a more etherial quality as well. I adjusted the contrast and color values and added a touch of green reflected light and there you go. I enjoyed getting personal with you painting, it was very solid and fun to work with. I hope that you like some of my suggestions and that they might help in the future.

What a wonderful old guy he is too! It is a shame that old guys don't sell books. Your work is fantastic though so I imagine your next one will be just as spectacular! Hope you post it here.

heh, my meagre experience of the world of marketing has taught me one thing; nobody has a friggin clue what sells anything.
Oh, there's a couple of things most are in agreements on (ranked in descending order)
Sexy chicks
Sexy chicks
sexually alluring women
sexy chicks
buff, pretty blokes

that's about it.

Cool pic. Good luck with the re-working

Koryh - Oh my. Great work on the ghost! I love it! This is something I will very much take into consideration when I do the paintover (next week). Seems that your time on SoulReaverII has paid off I'm really looking forward to SR2 since I very much enjoyed the original Dramcast version! Again thanks for spending abit of time doing the paintover - I really think its great!
Gordillo - Thanks (I hope this was for me and not Koryh but if it was the other way around, let me say thanks on his behalf )
Kallen - Thank you very much
JasonN - Thanks again Yes, the cover was based on sketches that was approved beforehand... That's why they'll pay me additionally. But still very much annoying - yes!
Muzman - ehheh! and thanks!

janne - sorry for not being on aim that much. Our dsl-server blew up in smoke (almost literally) the other day. Hopefully I'll be back real soon... next week, I hope. And thanks! Your're right about the paintover that Koryh did. I will keep that in mind when doing the revision.
Gordillo -
Raze - I sent you a private message... Welcome to the boards!
