When, this took me about 4 or 5 days to finish. I felt like I have grown alot (this is only my 4th real "CG" drawing). My lighting is much improved, and my characters angles are better. But, I can still improve.

Take a look and tell me what you see. I realize that its not professional quality, so don't tear into me too hard. But, I had alot of fun, and I learned alot for my next drawing.

hoak.

it's good that you're so open to criticism - that's a good start.

to improve you art, perhaps you should

1. study up on anatomy and find a good method of constructing a human body from scratch - or use photo reference (which some people are totally against, but i know a ton of pros that rock that in a pinch, just don't use it as a crutch)

2. you've got some degree of shadow down, but it's good practice when learning to try extremes - and don't forget highlights. bounced light is also important.

those are two tips i can throw out that should be of use, and mastering those should take a substantial amount of time.

too i've found that when starting (you say this is your 4th piece) perhaps it's better to do a flurry of pieces to get warmed up instead of spending a week on one pic. don't expect to be flawless your first time... just do a ton of stuff quickly - if you find something that stands out - redo it from scratch and watch your progress.

as opposed to correcting, why don't you try redoing your image from scratch - spend less time and go out on a limb. i come from a school that dictates rules are meant to be broken, but only after you fully understand them and know why.

i hope i'm not condescending or pompous. in honesty i'm just another humble artist with an opinion and would never push my advice as law.
