I really can't explain what I'm thinking, but the only thing I can is that you really need a lot of practice with that dodge/burn tool, maybe you should spend more time watching other people's art, nice work for a first try anyway... |

yeah, i agree with above, but it seems like less that problem is the skill with the dodge/burn and more with the application of that skill. It just seems at sometimes the shading is random, and without light source. |

Hmm okey, tnx for your thoughts.
Actually the shading isnt my problem(or perhaps it is?) the problem is, that i cant choose the right colors. Always gets too dark or too boring etc.
Would appreciate if someone more experienced could give his opinion bout this. |

Gandhi + Santa = Angry Old Man?
Or Santa with a tan?
Just kiddin'.
I'm including a skin-pallet in this post, save it to your files, then when in photoshop use your eyedroper tool to pick up a skin tone from it.
Also try this, paint the selected color on to your painting then add highlights with the airbrush set to screen at about 4% using the same color. Add your shadows the same way only using multiply insted of screen.
Hope this helps.
Take it easy,

Hehe yeah, Santa with a tan
Tnx alot for that constructive crit, it helps.
Coloring wasn't as easy as I thought it would be.
I've seen people using Painter. Is that better or perhaps just different from Photoshop? |
