...Woah... Those are awsome. Before this post, I had never seen any of your art or even heard of you. Where the heck have I been? You've obviously been a member longer than me (I can tell from your number). Great stuff. I'm off to your website right now.
[edit] I spoke to soon, I'm not getting one. [edit]

Are you kidding me? They laid you off? I am sorry about that, but if they were that stupid you shouldn't be working for them anyways. I love these drawings. I wish I could give you crit, but I have none ;p Oh well. |

F*cking Sh*t!! Those are cool. I really like the old man.
If you don't mind sharing, could you tell us a bit about your process? I can't tell for certain if those are done with actual markers, digital, or some combination of the two. If they're done with markers, what do you use to get the highlights? What brand of marker?
Thanks. |

Thanks for the link schwinn! I really liked the pre-Photoshop version of it as well. Very nice.
I do have one question about your tutorial though...
quote:
1. 30% prisma marker, various colors. just to work out the basic forms. large strokes, very loose and quick.
2. Find basic shadows and darken them by hitting them again with marker.
3. no. 2 pencil outlines. find forms and shapes within the larger marker strokes. NO ERASING. the more marks the better.
...lemme get this straight. You actually go right to the blank paper with the markers? With no kind of guidelines to start you out?
Yeoowch! I'd make a big muddy looking mess all over the page.
Keep up the good work, and good luck on the job hunt! |

Yep, markers first. It is Ok to make a muddy mess because you will pull out light areas again with the white paint pen.
The markers sre so much more liberating than pencil. It has made my drawings that much better because I am not worried about guidelines. |

These 2 characters are awsome. The top one is my favourite tho, and to repeat raupe I love the colors and detail that have gone into them, not to mention the character.
Excellent. |

Muddy mess good??
Hmmm... I'll take your word for it. I'm going to play around with this technique when I get a little free time. Thanks for the info. One last question, who makes a good white ink pen? I've never found one.
Thanks again! |
