I've been trying to find out who is the kickass composer that wrote the Half-Life game soundtrack, but no luck so far. My last resort would be to contact Valve or Sierra, but I thought I'd ask the knowledgable folks here first. |

Nevermind, I THINK I found him. His name is Kelly Bailey.
I'm dying to find out if he uses Waldorf equipment. I think Half-Life's soundtrack is throbbing with Waldorf-esque wavetable synthesis styled sounds, so I want to know for sure.
Any other Half-Life soundtrack fans out there? |

I think all the tracks appeared on MP3.com at some point as well, so maybe some clues in there somewhere. |

That soundrack rocks.
He's probably in the half-life endgame credits. Another Game soundtrack that i really love is from mechwarrior 2. I stopped playing the game 4-5 years ago but I still listen to the CD-music |

Bah you crazy people.. my first action after running a new game's shortcut is to go Options/Sound/Music: OFF
Maybe it came from TFC and CS when i rox0red people and made them think i used wall hack but actually i just listened to footsteps ..ehh no that's geek talk.. forget that. Change that to "i dont like having any sounds besides game sounds in my game" and stuff. |

Didn't Reznor do Doom 2? Or did he just do Quake 1? |

you're right, faustgfx. Bill Brown did the end-scene music where the last guy you fight leaves his body. All the in-game music was done by the ones you mentioned. |

Who's got mp3's of the quake series? I can't find them on the net, and I want em'.
Can't extract them from my Quake CD since it's fucking corrupted. The entire series. . ..gone.
What other games have awesome industrial/electronic score? |

well, i quite liked system shock 2's music - turbo cliche breakbeats and electronics.
wipeout2097, semioldskool prodigy and fsol yeah.
i have the quake 1 cd (gotta love all the dooms and hexens and heretics and shit on it, heh heh) somewhere, i can try to find it.
i liked some of quake2's stuff, but sonic mayhem is a bit too blah for me.
carmageddon 1 and messiah , fear factory goodness before they became blah (obsolete, digimortal)
dunno really. hrrr..
*hisses and hugs his 65 front line assembly legit cds* |

Looking Glass were always quite good on the music side of things. The intro music to Thief 1/Gold was great too. A kinda Gothic/steampunk atmosphere to it.

Nova-- Tell Kelly I'm a big fan, and please don't let his talent go to waste. If he's got mp3's of music he's done other than what's published for Half-Life, I'd love to get some.
And tell him to email me back! |

Ghost in the Shell for PSX is the only game I've ever come across with an actual techno soundtrack . . . has a couple real gems, like "The Vertical" by Joey Beltram.
I also liked the music from Silpheed for Sega CD . . . though that's probably nostalgia talking. The Streets of Rage games for Genesis had really nice music considering how poor the sound on that unit was. And of course, who can forget:
DAYYYYYTOOOOONAAAAAA!
Sorry, I've still never played Half Life |

Star Control II had the best music of all time. Not FM synthsis, but mods! I've got some of them still kicking around...a lot of those guys came from the Euro demo scene and got recruited for a song or two. There were tons of musicians on this game. |

true, i must be on crack. might be thinking of III. can't remember.
now if i just could remember the name of even ONE of those programs that rip various image and music/sound formats out of big files i could be happy, as i have a ton of oldie games and whatnot laying around here.
i went digging through (legit) cd's today.. found ecstatica, bloodnet, syndicate, syndicate wars, aces over europe, fx fighter, seal team, strike commander, little big adventure, tornado/desert storm, wing commander 1 and 2... |

It's kinda sad though.. Kelly's doing nothing of that sort nowadays.. mostly 'managing' stuff, not making music.
I dunno.. in spite of all the new games that came out with kickass music, I'm still a huge fan of the opera-esque stuff done for ff6

Helloo Mr. Lunatique, Hellooo Gamesoundtrackfans, I hope you havent got the Quake3 Soundtrack from somewhere else already, because it took quite some time to upload it on my Webspace via my turbofast ISDN
Got it quite a while ago from some gamenewspage or whatever. They are only 128kbit but sound ok I think.
Here the links to the files:
>>intro<<
>>01<<
>>02<<
>>03<<
>>04<<
>>05<<
>>06<<
Hope you girls and guys have fun listening to them. |

glitter, there are more songs than that in quake 3 arena.
fla alone has 7 tracks in it. you could also have named the files accordingly, i'd hate to have someone like the music then think it's sonic mayhem then get sonic mayhem's music in their hands and ultimately suicide because it sucks so much.
at least the intro is fla. |

Sorry faustgfx, I downloaded them from some game-site as I said above and I have no clue what the titles are or how much songs there are in the Quake3 soundtrack originally. I never even played Quake3(and I dont like the Quake-series in general as they maybe all have had good engines for their time, but the design of the games simply sucks).
I just thought even without title and being incomplete, someone would like to get them. If nobody wants em, even better, Ill be able to remove them from my webspace again.
If you have a source with all songs and properly named, then plz tell me. |
