As opposed to using photo reference. I don't think this deserved it's own thread, but I do suppose it's a finished piece. Also, it doesn't belong in either WIP or Digital Discussion, so I guess here is the safest/bestest place to dump it. This is my second take at the Wacom Pen Holder thingie-bob. Although I always leave my pen above my F keys on my keyboard, the thing just sits there, along with that 4D mouse that I never use.
Command and Conquer are welcomed. (C&C?)

The two grooves on the front make it worthwhile |

drawn from life... as opposed to drawn from death (2 steps away from necrophilia if you ask me)? I hope it stayed still long enough for yo to draw! (just being an idiot here, don't mind me. =))
It's pretty good! |

Nice!
The only thing wrong with it is the two grooves seem to be a little too deep.

First I had to find out what a groove was. At first I was lead to beleive you could associate dansing to something drawn in Photoshop.
I keep noticing perspective problems in that drawing, will have to fix them. I need to build some more complexe scene that just a almost-square object laying on a desk with absolutely no texturing to do and stuff. |

I was going to point out your perspective problems, but I guess you already found them. Fix that, and you've got a nice completed (if simple) pic. |

Hahah! Hilarious subject! We should start a thread of painting queer objects like this one... I never would have thought to draw this! Kudos!
Now I feel like painting my hand-held pencil sharpener, or McDonald's paper bag! You've started a serious brainstorm in me melon!

feebster - It'd be neat to start a "random drawn objects" thread. At first I thought you were kind of insulting me by calling it "queer", as in "gay", as in "bad", but I looked up in the dictionary and it actually means "out of the ordinary" sort of. OK I'll just go trim my goatee now. GRIN!
I did this one about one year ago when I first got my Wacom Intuos 4x5 that Frost told me to buy I think I improved a bit.
Nova - It's only the damn pen holder! It's that object that's on my desk that I keep staring at! Nothing genious here, give me a break.
[edit] Here's a modified version.. a bit better?

Hope you don't mind (too much) but here's a lil' quick something for trying to fix the perspective. I've tried to put my own pen holder in the same position you've been drawing yours but only approximately.
Construction really is essential and should be put out of the way first thing before anything. I've been cursing over and over trying to fix perspective problems while my drawing was more advanced..
Peace
