After downloading and watching Spooge's quicktime vid of his tank picture, I had to try it myself(he makes it look so simple).
Well heres my attempt this is half the original res, it took me about an hour ( twenty minutes + touch ups ).
Also while Im posting a topic .. does anyone know any places I could download good brushes for Photoshop. ( Or where I could get Painter free, he he ).
Please Crit, etc..
Do you think it is worth colouring ? |

the pic itself is fairly well done. looks good. I really do like the town at the bottom of the hill. makes me think of saving private ryan... although no particular part.
Good work
THIS IS NOT A WAREZ BOARD!
-sorry... still a little upset from that "Bong" picture

I agree, the tank is very good indeed. My only crit is watch out for the horizon, I think it should be a little bit lower down. Also, it's a bit hard to tell whether the buildings are really close and really small. It's not completely obvious that the tank is overlooking the city. Otherwise, very cool indeed and great to have you posting here more.
On a sidenote, I might be coming to Dublin for my holidays sometime. |

Aw cool , I got more posts than usual (maybe coz I put Spooge's name in the subject )
That whole horizon , thing .. I actually spotted that from half way through , but I was hoping it would just look like the tank is on a cliff, and the river is really really wide and you can't see most of it.
I really like this idea of really huge res and then resized, I've never really done it before, or at least not more than a 10% reduction of so. |

Nice.. I like it a lot.
The front of the tank.. at the front left of it. The track seems to hover above the ground... this is because there is an absence of a shadow.. maybe something you might want to fix (if I properly understood what you were going for).
The character there is standing on a bit of an angle.. makes him look unbalanced. Line him up with a vertical.
Hope that helps. |
