I'm making a tutorial for Wacom... and this is the finished result of the picture.

I was aiming for something I already knew how to do - a pretty face, pretty hair, and pretty flowers. I know best how to explain those things, so I hope no one's expecting anything mind-boggling here. I'm trying to project a cool, summery feeling here.

I'm pretty satisfied how it came out, though... but for once, the face is so androgynous I couldn't at first decide whether it was a boy or a girl ;)

Anyway... enjoy.

And the sky behind the fae is inspired by the lovely skies drawn by Socar... I just have to give credit where it's due - and I'm a great fan of how she paints clouds.

I'm also well aware of the fact that the fae is on one plane and the sky is really just a background that might've been black just as well. I wanted it to look like this, though. I could've left the background out but I decided against it.

Well, you already know what I think, jumbled about though my thoughts were... it's really quite amazing, I think, and certainly mind-boggling enough to boggle my weak little mind.

I think it's a guy... but I may be wrong.

I'm really looking forward to reading the tutorial for this. I mean, I don't follow tutorials, or anything, I only seem to be able to learn by finding things out for myself, but none the less, I'm looking forward to seeing this go through various stages of progress, and reading your thoughts behind it... if that makes any sense.

Oh, and I like the background... it has a very funky cheesy fantasy poster feel to it. Probably not what you were aiming for, but either way, I'd put it up on my wall.

edit: I'm an idiot.

The fleshtones on the man-girl are quite lovely. And the sky and, oohh, there's little sparkly things as well
There's something about the right eye that's bothering me though. Something with the eyelid. Ah well, I'm looking forward to the tutorial as well.

this is what i see.

when u try to look at the person without hair. he is a man for sure.
why not try to make the nose smaller; and her chest has many shadow, shouldn;t it be more smoother ..? put some more hair infront of her ear too. thats inportant too.

please icq me if u are seriously going to improve it. icq 5374812 i like to see the final picture.

SlightlyTwisted: Again... thanks =)

-=Gux=- : Hmm... I might look into it... thanks =)

JD Leon: Eheh... I don't want it to look more feminine. Don't want it to look more male either. When it comes to the masculinity/femininity of the features, I'm perfectly satisfied. I was aiming for androgynous. I can't see why I should be putting more hair in front of the ear either... *blinks* Ah well.

This will quite possibly be the nicest image/tutorial on that stupid Wacom site.

So dreamy looks... what a beautiful girl/boy!!!
I adore her/him...

Also I love the colors you use. The sky looks very high and her costumes are so mysterious...

I love your style, Enayla.

This is not good, sorry.... I think it's superb! hihii!

To me your characther is a guy. The strong jawbone and the eyes makes that look.. To someone else it might look a gal. But anyway you're too good!

that's very nice. i don't think anything needs changing, but this picture more than any of your others asks to show more. like, i can imagine a bigger scene, full body\environment, but not necessarily showing what he\she's looking at. but that's a lot of work and it certainly doesnt need it.

My, that's beautiful! Especially the flowers and the wings, half-transparent and merging with the sky. The expression on the face is also very nicely done. The only nitpick I could make about this is that the eyes seem to be very slightly different shapes. But it's very minor...and I would still call this picture an unqualified success..

Wheeeh, glad everyone seems to enjoy the painting.

maxon: Heheh, well, actually... this isn't the first tutorial I make. I've already got one (pretty old one) up on their site, I got my lips tutorial on my elfwood site, and then there's a hair tutorial floating around somewhere...

Frost: *Grins* Is it really that stupid? The site, that is?

Noco: Well, I love the colours YOU use, so it's a mutual admiration I guess ;)

-Tepox-: Hahah, you had me scared for a moment there! I was thinking "Oh no, where did I screw up"... Thanks =)

KeLLuSioN: Well, thank you =)

DiXter: =D

JammyB: Decent, eh? Heh, thanks =)

burn0ut: Mmm... maybe you're right!

Icannon: I knooow, you're right... however, I did not feel I had the time to start on something like that right now. I have waaaaaay too much to do *sigh*

Hightop: Heeh, there are tons of sites out there, and people in this forum, who can teach you that much better than I can. Of course... you're your own best teacher.

Socar MYLES: Hm... you might be right. Thank you =) I'll see if I get around to changing it.

WICKED: I'm not sure when it'll be up. It will certainly be finished soon enough, but it might take forever before Wacom actually adds it....

EviLToYLeT: Thanks on both accounts =)

Dryfire: Ooops, sorry! *picks it up* Here's your jaw, I think you might need it!

On Tuesday, a friend of mine is coming to visit and she stays for nearly two weeks, so I won't be frequenting the forum quite as much for a while... I'm sure everyone can survive without me, though ;)

in the dulcet tones of Austin Powers:

'ITS NOT A WOMAN, ITS A MAN, BABY!'

but seriously, apart from that little
androgynous niggle, its an excellent
piece of art. Fantasmic.

Enayla: Wacom has plenty of tutorials on how to Threnodize using Photoshop. So they are probably to blame for a lot of the, uh, "stuff" we see. =) At least yours will be worlds better I'm sure.

Okay... before going back to bed...

leat hacksaw: *giggles* Thanks =)

Frost: Eww... that's bad. I never noticed that, are those tutorials really on the European site?

WICKED: The tutorial is up on my *cough* gallery on Elfwood

(Edit) I checked... those lousy tutorials are on the American site. In my humble opinion, the European site is SO much nicer... no crap like that, there.

I like the feel!!!
You know what? If you cover op his/her right eye (our left) it looks like a female - cover up the other one - whobles - it looks like a male!!! There is something wrong with its left eye (our right), and I don't think it's about the lid (as -=Gux=- said)... The eyes are just a little different shape

i think the idea of a little hair in front of the ear is good, make it look more real at least. How often do you not have hair in front of your ear?

I think it is a man, but honestly do women go for men like this?

Great over all picture i love the way you do hair.

what wacom site are you guys talking about

Great paintings on the site Enayla. I think you need to make your own webpage =). Everytime I clicked on a thumb it said "website not responding". Oh well I'll try again later. BTW what did you decide on in the end. Is it a boy or a girl? I personaly think it looks more like a girl. While the face could go either way, I don't think any guy would be wearing flowers and beads, atleast that's my opinion .

It's a FAE, a FAE = Boy Fairy!
Great as always Enayla, i have to adnmit i absolutely adore your style, i often drop by your *cough* gallery at elfwood .
I think if the eyes had more colour variation, it would look better, also maybe some lengthy sideburns?! :\
