I never posted the final outcome of the conversion my comic strip underwent... Originally it was hand-drawn:
Recently I've been doing it digitally:
...Any opinions/suggestions?

I am no comic professional....yet!!! But I like them.
I like the first one...the second one is so so. Suggestions I would make is maybe add more of a background...just silouttes of heads maybe like they are in a party. Also the first one has a great cartoony type feel that you seem to have lost in the second one. When one works with the computer it is easy to make everything perfect..almost to perfect. Character and feelings can sometimes come from the irregularity of hand drawings. Having the lines always perfect inn the second one seems to make it look more flat and lifeless.. I like the panel boxes of the first better then the perfectly straight boxes on the second. I feel this way also about the word balloons ... also the font...I think you should try a more cartoony font. I hope these comments help. They show promise. The first one is pretty funny. |

Ahh... I was hoping you'd reply to this, nickmarksdotcom.
Check out the rest of the strips (they're in series, so no one strip is really a "standalone" funny, except for the very first).

One of the things I've been trying to go for, is the kind of bleak, stark "plainness" of it -- The expressionless, emotionless characters spouting blunt, crude, yet strangely entertaining dialogue...hehe...
Anyway...Thanks for the comments.
(edit: god I'm a fuckwad today...forgot the URL)

Yeah, I remember that Devil one from your website! I thought it was quite amusing, glad you're doing more of them
I think i prefer the digital ones, just look alot neater to me. I like the simpleness of your characters, but im not sure if it would look any better if you made them slightly more dynamic? |
