i know this is the wrong forum for this, but this one seems to be the most heavily trafficked and the end results will more than likely end up here in one form or another.
the delopolis web project is starting a variation of the draw club from other illustration and concept-oriented forums at http://pub72.ezboard.com/fthedelopoliswebprojectfrm1 . . .
here is an excerpt from the guidelines:
'These are some general guidelines for contribution to the Delopolis Design Community. An outline of a concept will be posted officially or by the community, roughly describing the necessary form and function of a system, technology, location, equipment, or character. The community is then invited to generate their own illustrations or fiction loosely based on the concept. Illustrators are encouraged to provide makes, model numbers, or general descriptions of their designs, so that every design can fit within the world as a competing brand. Designers and fiction contributors are also welcome to fit their creations within the Greater Hong Kong timeline. The most important element of this process is community, so please feel free to cooperate and constuctively critique. Enjoy!'
and the first project:
'a garbage truck doesn't sound very exciting, but hear me out ;-)
the specifications for a greater hong kong garbage truck call for a two-part design, a receptacle and compaction 'trailer', and a detachable and maneuverable robotic 'cab'. the only other necessary specification for the design is that it must be wheeled, following the sbarro 'hubless' wheel design. the truck may be automated or piloted, and may or may not involve some transformative process in either or both cab and trailer.
the real challenge here is to make a garbage truck look cool ;-)'
all of you are welcome to participate, and cross-post in this and any other forums that you frequent.
thanks ;-)
