Well, I havent posted in a long while. Also I know my post isnt digital art but it is art nonetheless. I was reading a thread about sculptures and I thought I would post one of my sculptures I did for a now defunct model company.
My sculpt is of Frankensteins monster. Its about 12 inches tall. The original was sculpted in Super Sculpy and what you see in the pic is a resin copy of my sculpt.
It was my first job at doing a likeness and I think it turned out pretty darn good.
The Monster was supposed to have been sold on the open market but unfortunately the company that comissioned the piece went out of buisness and the bust was shelved.
Anyway here is the link.....

groooovy! You can't sell that thing to another company or something though?
How do you go about doing resin copies? I've wanted to do stuff like that but I can't find out where to get the supplies from. |

Thanks. No, I cant sell it because the other company bought it.
Well making a resin copy is kind of tricky if you dont know how to do it. First you will have to make a mold out of Silicone rubber. Usually you will make 2 part molds.
A great place to buy the supplies from is www.polytek.com. There are quite a few companies but I like Polytek.
Here is a great link that will show you how to make a mold and cast a resin copy. Also if you are into any figure modeling its a great site for info. http://home.houston.rr.com/dpstudios/workshop.htm
Thats the best place I've seen online for learning how to make molds and cast your sculpts.
Take it easy. |
