the costume is from gladiator. Did that win an oscar for costume? I would have voted for the woody allen flick.

The white looks fantastic! I really like the shadows on it. The hand looks cool too. Did you focus mainly on the costume since the face is rendered different?

Gonna try Oils this evening. Got a kick since i saw your quick head studies.

Looks nice Spooge.. yep.. the lighting is spectacular once again... Hmmz... His head needs something, thought. more depth maybe?!?
I don't know but maybe slightly blueish color here and there (mainly to the cheek)?

This is a great portrayal of lighting. The selling factor is the shadow/bright spot on the pillar behind the figure that emphasizes the high key lighting elements and justifies the brightness of the reflected light on the robe and washed out shadows.

Spooge strikes again!

Nice study. Lighting of course is amazing. Do you ever use references for these? For one reason or another I am usually unable to have accurate references to work from for my pics and it usually shows, mainly in the lack of convincing lighting. But you seem to be able to just whip these pictures out, relying only on your deep understanding of the way light and shadow works. If I could figure out how to do this to I would be so happy.

Oh yeah, you've made comments about using custom brushes in photoshop. What sort of brushes? I can't for the life of me figure out how you get some of these painterly effects in photoshop.

This is a great piece of work.

The costume is laid out great and you really pulled off the threads at the sleeves.

Nice work!

Could you borrow me your skills for 24 hours Usually when it's late I like to take a look at a couple of your paintings but the result is always this: two hours later I find myself still browsing through the same directory and there are still some more pictures to look at.. all in all it takes like 3-4 hours, but it's surely worth it. I must thank you very much for doing all the great paintings, without you I wouldn't have became an artist!!

Marvelouse! I like the contrast between the big brush and very fine brush used for the ground craquelure. You do this for spilt blood in some of your paintings. The effect looks fantastic the way it's branched out.

zenon

ps. when are you gonna paint that Gladiatrix? ;D
