[Tenebricus]

I've done some graphics and typography, but this is literally the first attempt at art I've made besides stick figures. I did it in photshop with a mouse.

Opinions and critiques welcome. Try to keep in mind I am very new at this.

Why I painted the original at postcard size I have no idea. I guess I'm just used to drawing vectors then blowing them up.

Take out cake mix.. add eggs.. add water.. put in oven ;-) nice pic.. is there a background or symbolism here?

It's HP Lovecraft inspired(not pinned down on any story, just his style). I meant it to be an open ended story. What are the monoliths for? What are those shadowy things around the pool? Are they feeding on it or performing some kind of unholy ritual? Anyway, hopefully all the questions raised in the viewer's mind create a horror/fantasy feel withtout using any shock elements like violence or corpses. It's hit or miss so far. Alot of my friends just looked at it and said they were extremely disturbed, one going so far as to seriously suggest I seek psychiatric help(last time I show fantasy art to people who have never seen fantasy art ). All of my artist friends calmly analyzed it and shrugged though, so I need to figure out what I am doing right and wrong hehe. Or, it could jsut be an unmitigated failure that only surprises people that aren't "desensitized" to horror/fantasy stuff.
