Can be dangerous, so be reallly careful ...

I've done quite a bit of modelling and texturing but never gotten around to trying my hand at animation, so I thought it was about time I gave it a try.
I posted it recently on Polycount and I was wondering what you guys thought?
Here's what he looks like, so you can decide whether or not it's worth downloading.

Here's one of him running, it's 250k http://myartspot.50megs.com/orc_run03.avi

And idle, 2.9meg http://myartspot.50megs.com/orc_idle01.avi

Thanks all,

I can't watch them. They're all forbidden.

You may have to try copying and pasting the links if they don't work. I get the forbidden thing if I try to watch them, but downloading them with flashget works alright.

Very Very nice. How about having him lean on his axe or something? Or test the sharpness with his thumb?

Looks tight. The only thing that cought my eye on the run cycle was the movement of the arms. The movement should be more ellipsic (think arcs), now they move straight and turn very sharply. Jog around a bit for yourself and youll notice it too.

Nice job though, really like the texturing too.

good animations and a nice model too.

running anime - i like that his jaw and shouler armor bounce a lil bit.
his arms should fold alil more in the ed of each way (back and forth) and not streached more.

standing - i LOVE it when he seem to yank the underpants of his ass. this is what he seem to do. if that was the intension than it ROCKS! if not.... than i think u should fix it
but i dont think he should hold the axe like this. the axe seem too heavy for it. maybe if he kept leaning it on his shoulder after checking it.

kive more animations. i liked those

That's awesome gus, I got a question, did you model the body first then model his helmet/elbow pad and chest pad after? If ya did, did you weld vertices or just do an attach on them? Just wondering if that works good when animating, both look real good!

Thanks all, it's my first real attempt at animating and positive and constructive comment is really appreciated.

Jucas - So many possibilities huh I could keep that animation going forever, but I decided 700 odd frames was enough. Maybe I'll do a couple of different versions of idle??

[CSM] - Shouldn't be too hard to fix, I'll try it out tonight.

topiera - Yeah, he's adjusting his jock strap, you know how those Orc underpants tend to ride up after some skull crushing
The weighting on the axe is something I seem to be having trouble with, I'm concentrating mostly on just getting him moving around. I've already started a new version, I'll post it when I'm done.

Lev - the whole model's a single mesh, skinned with bones and weight mapping in Lightwave 6.5. It's a little bit of stuffing around to get them all looking good and there are still a few little problems with mine, shoulders are really hard to get working, but yeah it works well for animation I think. Maya and Max have a few work arounds for these type of problems, but I haven't had the chance to use them lately. Worth a look if you can get your hands on them.
