I really like this. It is very dark though, in more ways than one. However that is not a bad thing. I hope you dont mind I messed around a bit in photoshop and lightened it up and added a little more depth... It's not very refined like your orginal pic was:

I prefer the dark one than the yellow-red one. You have nice pictures in your website as well. I was just wondering are you really under 20 years old? In such case you've made hell of a progress so far.. Keep on painting. |

You really have some skill going. I really like the way your characters look. They look very rustic and natural. I also like the way you do the background in the last picture. I think the man is maybe too saturated or maybe the forest isn't vibrant enough, but when you have one creating a deep contrast of saturation you get a feeling like he doesn't really belong in the forest or maybe that the forest doesn't really belong around him. I also think that he needs some eyelids, not eyes but some eyelids. Hmmm.. I think that if you brought some of that dark green into the shadows on him that would look very cool and it would make him look like he should stay in the picture. Maybe you could add some more highlights to the forest right behind him so that it looks more like he is in a forest that surrounds him instead of being between two forests. Maybe you could lighten up his left peck or darken his right. Maybe add some ears. I think that his stance would be a lot more animalistic if he were a little more crouched over. It seems like you tried to do this with the head lower but you didn't want to go the full tilt. You could also add some more blades of grass to the right and maybe a few branches going beyond his back. Ok thats all I can really think of right now. Whoa that was way to much for me to say. Well I'm sorry I broke your picture down so much. I know you said it's just a doodle but I think it has really good potential. Or maybe not, it's all if you want to play with it or not. I don't know if you use them now but personal brushes are a lot of fun to use in sketches and they add a lot of texture and fake detail to the image. You can make these really easy and just play with the spacing. Ok I really should stop writing now, but I think you have a really good start to a lot of pictures and I also think that your doodles will look more and more complete with everyone, at least that has been my experiance. Thanks for the great stuff. |

Wow, almost missed this thread.
those pics are great, I loved the first one..
But if I were you I would add some light in the background behind his head and then add some highlights in the water-ripples..
or.. maybe not.
