Yes...definately begs the question to be asked "where's the jason manley site now?"

Also, out of interest, I talked with Justin at the beginning of the year, as I was going to do feature on him, but I sort of lost touch. For those interested in learning more about him, here's some of the stuff i talked to him about:

What sort of artistic background do you have? What did you take at school, university etc? Are you still pursuing further education in your spare time?

I studied drawing and painting at California State University Fullerton with Don Lagerberg and Master drawing classes from Marshall Vandruff. Spare time? I have three little kids. The closest I got to taking a class was when I hired one of my old instructors, Marshall Vandruff, to teach anatomy and composition to the artists at Black Isle one summer.

Artistic Influences and Heroes? Both traditional and digital?

Many. The main ones would be N.C. Wyeth, Howard Pyle, Frank Frazetta, John Singer Sargent, Richard Schmid, Bob Kuhn and Nicolai Fechin.

So, how did you find yourself in the gaming industry, moreover at Interplay/Black Isle?

A friend of mine was working for Interplay and hooked me up with some contract work witch eventually led into a full time job.

What does your job entail (and how has it evolved)?

I've been a conceptual artist most of the time. Along with that I've done lots of cinematic and production art. I was Art director at Black Isle for about a year.

What games have you worked on?

First one was an intro movie for a game called Dragon Dice. It was what landed me the job here. They were really some of my first paintings. I then worked on Red Asphalt, the Fallouts, a secret game, and Icewind Dale. Oh. and some of the portraits for a game called Invictus.

Which was your favourite to work on?

The secret game

Are you a games player? What are your favorourite games?

I love games. Lately I've been playing allot of Motocross Madness. Quake . Ping pong. I've been playing a toy story on the Dreamcast with my son at home.

What aspect of games creation do you enjoy most? Eg. Concept, Production, etc.

The painting part.

What sort of Freelance work do you do?

I've just started doing some work on the side for Wizards of the Coast.

What do you see yourself doing in the future?

I'd like to be a better painter

You're using Painter right? What sort of process do you follow?

Yes, however, some of the side stuff I've been doing lately has been in oil. I love oil painting.

When I work with Painter I approach it much the same as I would an oil painting. I put a glaze of color over the drawing and then the build up of the lights.

How long have you been working with Painter, and was the transition from traditional media to digital media easy?

Almost 5 years. Yes and no. Yes, because there's undo and no mess. No, because it would have been nice to have some originals to show for all my effort.
