Hmmm. Still trying to figure out this whole painting and colours thing. I'm trying to become looser, it's much more enjoyable than worrying about all sorts of detail.
Also trying to move away from the basic kindegarden red, blue and yellow. Criticism dearly needed.
I know elves ain't that tall, but I couldn't resist the pointy ears....

great job with the expression he really does look cocky. Also I like the earth tone palette it works well. I really wish I was good enough to give worthwhile critiques but I am not so you get to listen to random praises!

Thank you milkman, I saw your comments before you edited your post and they helped. Especially the whole ear thing.
Oh and I like your magic touch! Gotta love those sparkles. BTW, did you adjust the contrast or the darks? The darks in your image look much richer and overall, better compared to my original. Nice
Thanks thrush, I'm really glad you saved my post from the 2nd page! Your suggestions are really great, I was considering having a lot of elf minions surrounding him that all worship him. But since I didn't want to spend too long on this piece, I decided to save it for another time.
xXxPZxXx: Thanks dude, I'm glad he looks cocky
Morph: Thank you so much, it's really encouraging. You've been at this forum for so long and only 10 posts? Post some more!

Ohhh nooooo! This thread is not going to fall off the page one cliff with only one comment. I like the image over all. As a study of limited pallet color use and character design I think it works well as it is. If you were to develope this into a fully detailed masterwork, I would hope to see more purpose indicated. What is he doing? Perhaps taunting a foe? If so, if he's really cocky, mabey show the odds stacked against him. Perhaps he's outnumbered yet unruffled by it. I like your costume design and the fact that he is perhaps a little too large for an elf does not bother me a bit. See I've never actually met an elf so I can't dispute his size. Keep posting your stuff. It's good. |

I don't like the face expression. It does'nt work with his pose.. i think..
But otherwise the colors and shapes looks good.. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

according to dungeons and dragons and keebler cookies elves are short, in tolkien's books elves are taller and thinner and far denser then humans
neat picture, he has a good bit og mass. sort of weird having red hair and a thick jaw on an elf ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

looking really nice. Like the expression and the "taunt" he's doing. The only thing that bothers me is that...well...it's an elf right? he's...to wide...both in the face and body...but other than that I like it alot! |

Nice, there are a lot of problems with good work being bumped down the page, by a ridiculous number of posts! I come here every day, and spend about 2 hours here! I still find that I have to work to get through all the threads, and I admit I do skip a few..
This si good, you are doing really well for your age, I am also 17..
The lower half of the pic seems unfinished.. the colours and rendering overall are really good.. kepp it up. |
