First one : 20 mins
The second : 2 hrs
Third : n++ hrs
Less time = more quality
edit : The third one was _ugly_ - removed it.
if you still want to see it, it's here : http://www.saunalahti.fi/~late82/tmp/silkkaasontaa.jpg

Definitely not mediocre, klaivu.
The last one has neat lighting and colours. I like it [edit: wtf? you consider it as 'crap', hehheh]. I'm not familiar with the style you've used with "the pig" so I won't comment on that, and I'm too afraid of the the polished (bird?) creature to say anything.

hey! i think these are really good,
especially the last two. the bird looks
creepy, and ceramic (meant to be??)
because of the small sharp highlights.
maybe the lack of replies you have been
recieving is due to the title you gave your
thread dont be so hard on yourself |

shamhead : lack of replies ? i've been away for like a minute and there's two already .. the thing that does keep me down is that these are no better than anything i've ever done - i'm just not developing

funny you should mention that you're not developing... first thing i though when i saw these was that "wow, it's good to see klaivu trying out different stuff. eg. that last one has very nice(and more saturated than usual) colors."
perhaps you should just do more of these and stop worrying about development after every single pic you've done(after all, painting should be more than just developing your skills, no?).
janne. |

I like the shading in the second pic, colours in the third, but I think the first is best. |

lots and lots of positive replies ..
gee, thanks ..
the title seems a bit stupid now .. but i have this childish tendency to get depressed with anything that's not "good enough" - the ones that i consider really bad i usually rip apart or eat .. janne and gecko know more about this i think ?
palladia mors : you are looking at the original file .. all pics are painted in the res you see them in. (except the third .. its 70 %)
-tepox- : inspired you ? that's the best compliment i've ever heard

Hey Klai! The second one on top is awesome! Reminds me a lot of John Mueller's stuff. The third pic posted is also great! |

Looks very good I'd say. The only thing I could complain about would be the blury backrounds, a bit to simular to the render-clouds filter in photoshop, doesn't suit the detail level of the foreground me thinks. |
