This is my latest, and 4th, digital painting. This is Bud, the Golden Eagle. I know it's not fantasy or sci-fi, but hopefully you guys will be able to give me tips and comments (and hopefully compliments!)

i think the eagle look good, maybe you should add some details?, like a background
and maybe some more highlights |

I like the colors (esp. the feathers), but I feel a background is needed. Plus, the eye placement seems to low on the profile eagle on our right. The image feels flat, lacking not exactly depth, but a sense of roundness. Does that make any sense? And a little more detail here and there wouldn't hurt. Don't get me wrong- I like this pic! But there is definitely room for improvement. |

Okay, I can see what you mean. How would you add roundness? I am thinking I am gonna add some more defined feathers on the 'golden' part, and maybe more deatail on the wings and breast. I am not sure about a background though, I always sort of envisioned this as a plain black background, sort of like it were a painting. But roundness... I am not sure what to do with that... more shading? more highlights? Dangit.. I always feel good when I first post my picture here, but then I feel worse and worse and people point out what I did poorly, hehe...
also, the eye is in the right spot, its taken from a photograph of the bird I took myself. Actually, I took about 50 shots of this eagle in preperation for this painting. this is the first golden eagle to be used for falconry in the USA, and I am friends with the falconer who works with him ![](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |
