Just though I`d put some my latest work in one post. I`m currently playing alot of Kengo on my Ps2 and got some samurai kick.
Also decided to make a pretty standard babe, but with clothes on and a face inspired by looking at a certain Wheatus video featuring Mena Suvari...me likes;-)

The samurai is so powerfull... Your latest work is very agressive. It amaze me everytime.
Keep on your dynamic style.

I like the girl, but I LOVE the samurai. The stylization and sense of motion is really nice. Not to mention the violent red background--I really like that.
I think the one thing that might make this already excellent image a little better would be if the hair extended a little further up & to the right. That would carry the motion through slightly better....
Lovely work, though, as always. |

Damn good work man! Good quality like always in your work. I like the "suvari" pic best. The background is so amazing in it. Hmmz. I really have to think what to crit... Girl's sword looks too much line work to me. Girl's
Suvari face is pretty and well done. But maybe she looks too innocent to hold sword like that! I don't have anything to crit about samurai pic. It works just fine. |

Wow. Your ability to draw people so well without reference is great. I love the sense of action on the samurai. One crit: The girl looks too smooth in front of the textured backdrop to me, I think maybe she could use some more texture. Or maybe I just need to get used to higher texture in the background

Mmm...Awesome style on the samurai image. His face resembles the style of those old japanese illustrations. |

Man, veb, you can do some awesome stuff. Being a lover of samurai and japanese history, I can't help but just sit and stare at that samurai... |

It`s photoshop, with filters of scanned brushmarks I made, coffesplatters and various texture references of rocks etc, on top of a pencil sketch. Some more worked over than others..like the Mena face does not even resemble the sketch much.
The red samurai background is a part of a big sheet of paper I covered with reddishbrowm, thick brushmarks and scanned.

Vebjorn. That is one awesome looking samurai. I think that your style suits this genre very well. I too have been on a samurai/Feudal Japan kick too lately as well as a sudden interest in Spaghetti Westerns (which is not so surprising since they are pretty much the same thing.) Anyway that kicks untold amounts of trash and wanted to tell you that I love your samurai based stuff! |

to Nori: read my post above, the brushmarks are scanned from the real thing, no way could I make so varied/realistic strokes in painter;-)

Cool. As I always say.. nice textures and colours.
The girl pic... pretty... very nice, stupid look! hehe cute.
I couldn't help notice the chain though... its just a black set of lines and when you notice that area of the pic, IMO it wrecks it. |

love the first one so much. there's a ton of movement and feeling. love the pose, color, etc etc. and i smile.
sorry, but the second one looks like you gave some girl that i used to go to highschool with a sword and she tried to look like she's capable of using it. hehehe i'm not fond of the pose at all. that's really why i think that. |

Hey veb, very nice stuff. No naked chicks with bounceables this time
Anyway, the first piece conveys a great sense of... well... violence. I'm guessing the samurai just got the shit kicked outta him or watched someone get the shit kicked outta him....otherwise he just...
so many interpertations, so many interpertations!
Anyway, the girl. *wowee* Her face is .. absolutely incredible. I find myself going for women that have a .. sorta stupid look on their face.. kinda cute. Hehe... anyway, Looking at that picture I don't even pay much attention to the sword, and kind of gives me the impression that this girl could make a great character. She looks all stupid and seems to have found the sword in a cave and when you go up to make her move on you she goes *kaiya! * and slices off your....
Great stuff veb, hope to see more from you |
