Just can't figure out how u manage to do that great work.
It looks so easely and fast painted, but it
keeps the fine sharpness and doesn't go all
blurry.
Keep up the good work. |

Nice work, gecko. I haven't seen anything from you in a while. Have you been not posting or have I been not checking? |

** updated the pic up there, with more precise texture on the dragon and some stronger shadows on the other animals **
rinaldo: !! :)
I'm happy about the children's book comment! This kind of painting is new to me, going from my stupid worrying too much about everything kind of way to forming parts of the pic more freely with the regular brushes and not giving too much thought on the small details.
themilkman: floats? what are those? cute is good.
axo: Just gotta be careful, and not touch the soft-edged brushes. I started with a 50 pixel round brush, and worked my way down. Finally the small scales were added on 200% zoom (this is the original resolution of the pic). Start roughly, when something you like emerges, leave it there. be careful, use high opacity (mine was 100% throughout) or things will go blurry really easily. The hundred practise paintings (the ones i did so far:) really help with the starting of a pic. Helps to like the subject as well :)
wakestar & salipor: Thanks for the contrast comment, the smaller animals were (still are) very plain, I did some changes but didn't want to paint too much over them. BAD GECKO, BAD! I guess it doesn't matter, I just didn't learn anything new from it :|
bishop: I haven't been posting much since I painted a hundred of those practise pics, gave it a rest and moved to drawing loads of human anatomy on paper, and some other stuff not worth posting. And the past 7 or so days I haven't touched the wacom or pencil.
Hmm, Dunno if I was supposed to say something else. Your turn :P |

fricken cool. i like how you did the dragons head. i dont know if it was intended, but it looks underwater because of the thick green haze. |

Hehee, that underwater composition is awesome! But why am I thinking about Harry Potter? I've never read any of those but still...
Anyway. The fluffy dragon's scrobiculate texture looks good. Creatures' expressions are subtle, but sufficient. Author's sense of color usage in this picture is something beyond my skills.
This extramundane presentation could be defined as apodeictic and I'm not even sure what that word means. |

Hey Gecko,
That's awesome - I've never seen anything quite like that. The textures on the dragon are neat. And as for the scuba picture....

Gecko floats are those things you see in parades that are made of flowers and usually have people on top of them.. that dragon especially looks like a float. Anyways looks better now.. :P |
