this took about 2 hours total .. had a photo reference. it's not really just plain line art because i didn't want just flat lines so i added the shading, but not quite comic book style shading either .. it's somewhere inbetween. the photo was of katie holmes .. i think it kinda comes somewhere close to resembling her, but i've never been good at making a drawing look like the person.

i realized just as i was finishing this up that the paper is far too large for my feeder scanner/printer .. and i don't even have my digicam (IVEY!!) so i had to use my webcam, sorry for the horrendous quality. i'm gonna try and find a better scanner (Ivey??) so I can go at this with my Wacom, now that it's home (IVEY!!)

Yeah you might want to get that scanned! I am not very good at drawing likenesses either. I do recommend the book "Drawing on The Right Side of The Brain" though. It helps me learn to draw what I see a lot better (I still suck though) Just curious how old are you?

Back to the picture - from what I can see the clothes are looking pretty good but the face needs a bit more detail to me its like the clothes are hogging the attention of the pic. Keep at it.

I'm 19 .. well, in a week. and there just isn't a lot of detail to go in the face .. there are soft shadows that aren't dark enough to warrant filling them in with black, there's some make up, but theres almost nothing that can be shown as a line.

when i get this scanned i'm going to edit it and hopefully the face won't be quite as plain. i also want to do the texture for the shirt and the ground/grass (that's what's in her hand .. it's easier to tell but the camera is cut off at the bottom)
