Hi guys'n'gals!
Just a quickie flythrough - a friend of mine posted a space pict in wip section (see http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/Forum4/HTML/001051.html for details), since she is a really busy i've dropped my 'suggestion' here. I tried to be as quick as possible so the process takes only a few hours (2-3 i think)...
i take spacefighter from Lightwave 5.5 guests' CD when did a draft render and repaint lighting/texturing/shading to fit the scene. I can model - no prob, just haven't time here...

so you made the background planet and comet thing? The comet/asteroid looks like it is just about to hit the surface. If it were actually hitting the earth there would be water vaporizing everywhere and a big shockwave. here:
It looks pretty cool right now, but making the impact look more chaotic would be even more Smashing! no pun intended.

Just a quickie question. Did you all watch Titan A.E.? The Earth explosion in that one was pretty cool. But there were some things that bothered me about it. The moon for instance. It's hollow? The earth exploding... shouldn't there be lots and lots of lava and extremely heavy hot metals blasting as well as large asteroid chunks?
What do you all think? Still it was a very cool sequence, and the sound on the DVD is just awesome.

i didnt see it, but i think that the metals would cool pretty quickly if they were exposed to space. |

ow it's not supposed to be Armageddon-like pucture. It's just a suggestion for the space scenes. The rule is - turn ambient light OFF! All to often i see space scenes overlighted...
Machtyn, did you ever seen how planet exploding? I hope not... so everybody can play with they own interpretation.

I played around a little with this theme some time ago, about a year ago I think it was. I got kinda tired of it after a while so I "destroyed" most of it (the black dissolve layer you see..) Anyway, I post my interpretation, hope you don't mind.
(I'm pretty sure I've posted this pic in another thread a few months back, if someone by chance would recognize it) |
