it looks cool to me. does this have any underlying meaning that I'm not grasping?

How long did you go about doing "normal" stuff until you broke into your own unique style (let's face it, your style is easily distiguishable from anyone elses stuff on this forum).
I ask because my "style" tends to change drastically between each and every peice I mess with... and even more so now that I'm doing everything digitally. I notice that most of the talent on this board all pretty much have their style on a solid foundation, and I'm wanting to know if it's something as simple as "I just kept doing things 100 different ways and I finally found one I really liked" or something depressing like "I've been doing things like this since I was 8, and I haven't looked back".
Essobie
p.s. I love it, and every other peice you've put up here since I've been on the board.

thanks for the encouragment.
agent44- i didn't really have a deep meaning when i started. the detached hand was inspired from my trip to Africa last nov. two friends and i went to Sierra Leone to draw portriats of victims of the war going on there. the purpose was to encourage them and honor them. their responses were amazing. we also interviewed them and brought back their stories and portraits to display and sell for money for education. i know it sounds all "charity" and "a good pat on the back" , but that wasn't the focus. it was so phat to be able to use something i love (art) to encourage others.
that was a long explination. this pic has influences from my trip.
red leader- no his hand is totally detached. any ideas on how i could make it less confussing to look at?
essobie- thanks for asking me. i don't know if i'll have anything intelligent to say. i still feel like i haven't "found my style". i know that it's easier for others to see it in you.
do you have a link where i can see some of your work? i think a major turning point in my drawing was when i got a little black sketchbook from Borders. before i drew for art class or for other people, but in that book i just drew for myself. i experimented with different pens and found one i liked. i would draw real quickly things or characters that would come to my head. if i messed up,i just kept scibbling over it and made it into something else. i don't know if this makes sense, but i was good for me.
now what i know i need to do is draw more from real life and learn from looking at how light works.
