I was a professional tattoo artist for about 8 years. I was cleaning today and came across my old tattoo portfolio, it gave me a laugh so I thought I'd share.

Fess up.
These are all paint-overs, right?
Exceptional work, particularly on the celebrities.

"Synj: and this is digital art how? "
Hey what's wrong with posting tatoo art ... There's a great figure drawing thread which isn't exactly "digital" either

Awesome stuff Fallen! I designed a tattoo for a guy I worked with last year. I still can't believe he actually got it... I barely knew the guy, after all. It turned out pretty okay, though. Nothing to compare with these, however- awesome work here.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd totally get a manga tattoo!
Beats the heck out of the cliche skulls and hearts, besides, they're unique.
Fallen...... that's pretty good, very good.
You can ignore Synj... (He's a little immature!!!)
But anyway, long live tattoos... I'm gonna get one soon (but I need
a template first) Anyway, that's enough out of me |

Whee...lovely. Quite different from your current work.... I must say, I was quite taken with the wing one, too. (I'd never have anything like that done, but I admire it on other people.) Myself, I have a small tattoo of a rat, just on the back of my neck.
Love the work, though. And I'm curious, too--why DID you stop? Being a tattoo artist, that is? |

Well, once again synj has proven his age and intelligence. And it seems he's made a friend in nontextualmatter.
Anyways, I stopped tattooing cause it's a shitty business. You have hard working artists at one shop busting their ass to turn out top quality artwork, who have been learning and honing their craft for years. Then you get some punk who got a tattoo machine for their birthday who opens a shop across the street from you and undercuts your prices, only to turn out terrible work. People, for some reason, are more concerned about the cost of the tattoo than the quality of it. I find that strange, I personally will pay whatever it takes for a top notch tattoo. Doesn't matter i guess, it's only there for the rest of your life.

not that I would ever have a manga chick or photo realistic face on my arm, I know I would have regret that. But, those are really well done. I don't know much about tattoo, but I would believe that takes pretty much patience and consentration...and pain for the person being tattooed

Actually, that wing tattoo is just awesome I'd love to have a tattoo like that... or, well, I would've if I didn't know someone already had one. Very pretty.
Manga pictures, on the other hand... as tattoos? Aww, no... *chuckle*

Still makes me laugh to see these again..
Joachim- They are rather difficult to do, flesh is a very unforgiving medium.
Enayla-People got some really stupid stuff tattooed during my career. Some of it made me cringe the whole time I was doing it. To each their own i guess.

fallen
i have have no tattoos, but i appreciate anyone who can commit to each line drawn. there's not so many undos in tattoos. nice work - including, post-skin efforts.
Digital art is just a medium that can make it harder to see where you erased.
i say, clip the erasers off of all analog pencils. then see who can 'draw'.

Haven't posted in ages... whoo...

What you said there sounds a lot like the graphic/web design business. Seriously. Sometimes I get appalled by the companies who pay 100k to get a logo that resembles a dick and a ball, only they don't notice it until someone finally has the 'balls' to point that out. Then its "oops, it's our logo. We gotta keep it"

YUCK!
Your artwork is great! but I think tatoos are
o.k. if small and designed by the "host".
These large tatoos (in my humble opinion),
are going to make "laser surgeons" very, very
wealthy in about 5-10 years.

fallen well man i looked for some photo's looks like i lost them all i found one but it was just a small one hard to see the work so no need in posting it.
I gave up tattooing for a whole different reason the business was easy to get for me i quite because bible says not to get them.
not that any of you care about bible. |

You must have had a steady hand, the detail in some of them is awesome. Im not much of a fan of the realistic looking ones, but i think anyone who gets them done deserves respect, considering how much time it takes. My tribal dragon on my back took me about 2-3 hours, i imagine some of them were done in several sessions?! |

nice shit there fallen, one of my friends from Life drawing class is a tatoo artist for about 2 years now... but his stuff isn't quite as good as that although it's allways funny to hear the stories of all the weirdos (not the majority, but the memorable ones ) who comes in to get tatood... from the fat lesbian who got fisted by a bum cus she felt like it... to the old lady who won't pull up her pants after the tatoo... I would seriously chose that profession just to be able to get that kind of veriaty of normal to weird people... but that's just me
