I was recently looking at Frostfyre's Purple Goblin and I got inspired to make one of my own...(Thanks Frost!)
Inadvertently it kinda looks like a cross between Mr.Burns from the Simpsons ("Smithers...release the hounds!") and The Grinch...hehehe...oh well...it's moody

Whee--what a goblin! That nose is hilarious, and you've done a really excellent job with the ears and the textures on its head. The hand holding the key seems a little out of whack--nothing serious--just a bit of a problem with proportion, and comparative size with the other hand....
All in all, though, this is brilliant, and funny, and...what's that word? Gnarly. Yes. This is exceedingly...gnarly.
Good job. |

Oooooooh, I like this one =]
Excellent work on the ferry stuff!
Nice pallete you used there!
To make it more interesting, it may be good if you had some furniture here and there (if it's in a room)?@

[EDIT] Oh, and I checked my cat and saw that the hair/fer should be growing toward the tip of the fingers. Hope this helps!

Thanks guys, your input helps a lot! I am updating the image everytime I make a new change. More crits are always welcome!
Here's a closeup on those chompers.

Fun pick. While it could be developed a little further, it has a good amount of life now... which is always better than heavy dev.
Small crit: Look at stuff with hair... heck, look at your own arm. What way does the fur flow?

very nice colors and i like how his body is.
I agree maybe something in the room... or it looks like maybe he could be looking at something (that evil smile intense stare) something on the ground that he came into the room for? I'd like to see just a little more story to it, it is really nice! |

I would love to hear the process you went through to get the fur looking so great. And any other techniques you used to create this piece. Awesome piece of work!!

Oooh, I was inspirational
Nice stuff! I love the crazy proportions, and the expression on his face. It begs the questions, where is he going with that key, and why is he ooking down? He looks as though he's spotted a tasty morsel, hence the drooling & the grin, but there's nothing there... (where he's looking)
Keep up the good work!
Frostfyre

To Frostfyre: I'm not sure, but this is what I think. The Goblin found the key to the room of a little kid, he opened the door and he's going to torment the kid or something like that. Keep on painting new stuff, maybe you'll inspire me again.
To all those who asked me to re-orient the fur: THANK YOU! I went back and repainted the fur so that it follows his limbs....except his back fur. That is a particular feature of my Goblin. It's funny how I never planned on developing him so much, since it started as a simple sketch, but kept on evolving as I went along. I will probably add some props and more detail if I hear any good suggestions.
To Marcus: I do it the same way as in traditional painting, first I rough out all the important element and then I add details like the fur.
Thanks again everybody.
Aaah, what would I do without this forum?
(Actually communicate with people around me?

To Stneil777: I used to have a monster 12x18 Calcomp but it broke down .
So now I am using a Graphire 4x5 until I buy a proper Intuos 6x8. I find it hard to do hair/fur sometimes because the smooth curves get broken to sharp angles( due to the limited 512 pressure sensitivity of the Graphire as opposed to 1024 of the Intuos series), so I go slow when I am working on hair.

StNeil, u did that with only a mouse? Wow!
Think about the amazing work you will be able to do with a wacom! You got guts man, I dont even dare to draw/paint anything without the wacom.
Oh the Hands look good too, but maybe u put too much glow?
