Okay - I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks and just registered to post a few days ago. I am really stunned by the calibur of artists represented here and am pleased to see so many folks whose work I've admired for a long while.
Here is my little contribution.

This is a couple of characters that some friends ran in a D&D game several years ago and I painted it in Pshop for them based on the references from some fashion catalogs they picked out. I've included the reference here because folks like to see the before/after.
They seemed to like it.

I like it the way you changed the reference and didn't just copy it, it gave the characters different personality (esp the face). Nice jewel on her head (although weird relations with the hair). The lips are rendered nicely. Too much airbrushing for my taste. If you want to airbrush then do it smoother, if not then think of another style.

Question did you just look at the photo's or did you put them on another layer for refurance and painted over them? |

That's cool - I posted this to get opinions - harsh or not.
One of the things I have been working on is to develop a distinct style and everybody has their own!
Actually I loaded the photo on another layer and painted a high res grayscale version over the top using the paintbrush, airbrush and smudge to get a "painterly" effect. Then I adjusted the skin tones with saturation and painted additioinal colors. I don't have much experience with Painter but was trying to see if I could duplicate some of the effects with Pshop.
