Well I took some advice and am trying to move from my Mad clone phase and revive some old styles I fooled around with in highschool. Tell me what you think. I love each style just can't figure which one to focus on.
PS I messed up the scan hence the blue tint to cover it up.

MY personal favorites are the two realistic faces.... the guy with the cigarette and the other guys..
and about your style queestion....do whatever style that fits you... whichever one you like best. But, I do recommend you perhaps start out with realism and from there it's much easier to deviate to some unique style..starting from a unique style will only hinder your development.. *methinks.....maybe be wrong* |

Nice stuff dude.
All very nice styles. personally I wouldn't deviate from any, focus on all untill you naturally reach a point where they meld into say....the final style.
This style would have all the benifits of the previous and none of their weaknesses.....kind of like Blade.....err..yeah. |

Style question.... hmmm
Dont 'think' too hard about it. I am always told that your own style will develop, so dont force it too much. It depends what you are going for? whats your direction in your drawing...? I think that the point about realism being the first thing you should concentrate on is probably correct, in terms of developing a sense of 'form' or understanding of what you are drawing...understanding objects in space and 3d.
Notice I said 'concentrate' on realism, well that means you could concentrate on realism to develop understanding of form and also do stlye as well, dont limit yourself to one... Just simply draw and keep drawing... Use whichever 'style' you think best suits the purpose of each drawing...
Hmm... hope that made sense.. ?

I like the ones that have the darkest lines, expecially the one with the mask and the long horns, that one rocks! |

nice head(s) I'm a bit partial to your style too
is the guy in the lower left the savage dragon? if so, his fin is off a bit
putting lines down that describe a head in one angle is one thing, but constructing a head from all angles with consistency in accuracy is more challenging! another exercise i like to do is copying the same head about 12 times, changing only the lighting in each. |
