Ah! The return of the gold face!!!
Give it to me!!! I bet it's worth a lot.
Oh, don't bother, i brought my own saw.

Very nice pic. Agree with the dodge & burn
though. But it gives a graffiti kinda look.

Yeah, it was my first attempt at using the burn/dodge tool and I think I got a bit carried away. Thx for the feedback!

Nice piece of work. As stated it looks like there is a little too much dodge/burn applied to it but aside from that, it's a 10 in my books!

Suggestion: maybe u can try using Levels to adjust the image a bit.

QT,

Nice work, particularly on the facial structures...i like the pencil close-up best. The coloring work is good as well, the lighting is cool. I find that dodge/burn is good on metal and textures (although i have worked with those tools very little) but tends to mangle flesh tones...at least in my mits. regardless, nice work!

peace

hi QT. nice pics. ice cube looks good but i am not sure about the other one. is that snoop?

next time do... uhm... 2 pac is to obvious... go for nelly. he's good.

and when u color, avoid dodge/burn. either try normal pick of colors (darker tones for shaded areas and brighter for more lit areas, duuuh.) or use the "multiply" option in the airbrush options to shade and the "screen" option to lit places.

u can also use quick mask to select areas and then change it's variations and hue. it's weird but sometimes has it's advantages

nice work, again.

Yeah, 'll second that motion. Skin doesn't natually glow so bright unless you're comic coloring or something. Instead of dodge/burn try setting your airbrush/paintbrush on screen mode with the same color you're painting on as the foreground color. It's more of a natural lighting. Paint, then set the mode back to normal and sample color from that highlighted spot for more highlights. Take it easy! For shadows, click on the current color swatch which takes you to the spectrum/color picker thing and from your original color go down and right to get a darker, more saturated color for shadows. Hm. Or you could use careful amounts of black..

My two cents.

I've been surfing the forum for a while now and the standard out there is somewhat scary.
This is my first post and I'd really appreciate some feedback. It was inspired by Dhabih's work and is my first bit of digi art. It started life as a pencil drawing which I then worked up using photoshop.
So, what d'ya think????????

I personally am pretty tired of seeing portraits of black men with pissed off looks on thier faces. They always look like Faragan body guards. Are black men always mad? I didn't think so. How about a pic of a black man feeding a squirrel, tieing his shoes, saving the planet...anything but this straight on pissed off look. It's boring and not very challenging for you, and won't lead to much more then doing tee-shirts for your friends. The compositions are trite and something out of a magizine.

The first face has way too much contrast and some basic drawing flaws the ice tea pic is pretty good but neither pics really show us what you can really do. So if you want a critical evaluation of how you could improve show us something that's more about YOU.
