imho, she has a chin a tad too heavy to be cute, it pushes the lips up hence the very thin upper lip .. Just 2 cts :p
Otherwise, if you're in love with the chin, just make the lips more *looks for the word* .. plump ?
I agree with you, your second cute girl with the green hood is not cute at all...

muahaha *couldn't resist*

Shes pretty elfish and rather cute, adjustments could be made, but they always can when your making up faces.

That second chick is rather manly.
*cue the laughter*

Quick reply and apologies if I'm too short and have mispelled anything...

Enlarge and warm the eyes and lesten the severety of the jaw. Also her nose. Everything you have there is fighting everything else. It all works and it is all there, but just rearranigning the proportions (IMO) would get you to where you'd like to go...

At first, I tried this, with a smile but naaa.. she's still not cute because she's frowning.

So maybe with different eyes ? I don't know the definition of cute (we surely all have a different one) but for me it's non aggressive and very childlike. Hence big eyes, upturned nose, smile and so on...

So I came with this one but now, she's reaaallly cheesy :p

Just one question, your works are always gorgeous, I'm a fan.. Why do you work so small ?? (Game industry ?)

Thx for the fun :)

about the elf chick: i like both your very first one (cute, in a realistic way) and the next one...in the second her expression is very enigmatic and intriguing.

the third one is cool too, but she's lost that impression of depth of character and just looks ditzy. cute, but ditzy.

if anything, i'd take the first one, and just drop the mouth a little.

all the pieces are excellent. it just depends on what effect you're after.

show some more of what you're working on with this! now i'm interested...

Isn't "cute" sort of automatically cheesy? Popular legend says that corny jokes and cheesy themes were actually encouraged at Disney in the old days (pre evil empire status)

Anyway, I think the one with the "plump" lips looks like a cute girl being sultry (very nice) and the third one looks like she's the cat that ate the canary.

DOH! I just realized it wasn't greenpeach that did the updates...

One thing- are cute & sexy working at odds here? Sexy often implies sophistication, which usually works against "cute"....

Back to work....

Hello
Somk sent me here, and pushed me once again...
I really like your style and understand your will of "uncute" drawings. But as Somk asked me...well I tried to repaint too... Hope you appreciate this "hommage". http://www.multimania.com/cieexcalibur/Me/goods4.jpg

i like the color of the lips in the original pict. the best, so leave them that color. also i would add to her cuteness by making her hands more petite- as it stands now, she's got hands like a car mechanic. dont be afraid to add to her breasts a little shine or glisten of sweat (or is that my wishful thinking?). also i would smoothe out all the lines and blending on her skin.

It's actually quite easy to make female characters look cute.

First, you need to understand what it is that makes you think a girl cuter than others. Then you need to understand the fundamentals of applying make-up. Even if your character doesn't wear make-up, you need to understand what it is that women are trying to emphasize when they wear make-up.

After that, it's just a breeze.

I think all that Red color makes her look like she's having a cold..
Maybe could replace it with a browner color, like a sunburn.. but hmm she would loose something then i guess.

shrugs...

Red lips, smaller hands, keep the face kinda round, the skin looking tight, and rosy red cheeks, that oughta do it, oooh big eyes, maybe. I dunno..

OK, it took me forever to get this straight (if I indeed have). This is a less dramatic change than So's (due intirely to my lack of ability), but show's what a few of the comments have been.
