Trying to use my color pencils, been a year since the last time i did color pencil portraits. :P

The one below is the refernce i used. noticed that the eyes are a little too far apart and i screwed up the gloves. ^^;

No 0 post threads in my town.

Before you even touch the page with colour you should check and re-check your proportions. Working with photographic reference makes this easier. The thick black lines on the nose area makes the image look particularly flat, erase erase erase . The eyes in your reference have so much more attitude and expresiveness, same with the lips. Really really take a good look at your reference . . . don't substitute your image with rough estimates.

I really think that you should do another one, trying to keep it as true to the reference as possible. Invaluable learning experience.

Some things to keep in mind about the eyes:

There should be about 1 eye-length distance between the eyes.

Watch your angles. Try starting with a basic underdrawing, including the basic shape of the head and 2 lines. One from the top of the head to the chin and one in the middle of the head, where the eyes lie. Realize that these 2 lines create 90 degree angles. There is quite a steeper angle on the ref pic than on your drawing.
