Very cool.
All you marker guys are making me jeolous.

The staff holding arm is too bent and cartoony considering the rest the pic. Some harder lines and more direct angles should meld it in more.
I really dig the little details and nic-naks you've added. Nice work.

Milk Man: My marker skills are deffinetly not in the field of were ed or fengs are but thats why i keep practicing, practicing, practicing. =) I appresiate the tips. I checked out some of that guys work (Doug Chang), hes got some sweet action goin down.

Thanks to Hanna for those ever so sweet coments. Seeing how she is my girl friend she knows how I feel about Disney. Here is a pic she modeld for.

ITs tough some times to draw a person who moves around alot, espesialy a little wiggle worm like herself. =)

Hmm jason...the line work in this one is isnt as good as your first but I still like it. Your first one to me looked like a good disney concept art without being TO DISNEY!
Probebly just personal preference...I like the way vortex and ed lee do there marker work ( doug chiang ) style. I think that maybe your line work needs to be a little tightter unless you are going for that loose disney style concept ??

I'm doing a series of illustrations and concept art in conjunction with a story I have. I hope to display it as kind of an on line comic book sort of thing. But with out the comic book look. A story with illustrations to go along with it.
I am also working on trying my skills out as a concept artist. That's really the direction I would love to go with my carere. SO, I need the practice.
thanks for askin.

Hey, these are cool.

I notice you use the markers more as a way to deliniate color rather than shadow. It works. I prefer to use them to show shadow more. Using a variety of shades of gray work well. I try to color the entire image and then build layers of darkness over it. You can deliniate the color by simply upping the darkness factor or lowering it.

Hope that makes sense or is helpfull.

I really like the mayan/aztec/egyptian. he's really cool. What are these concepts for? Are they just exercises, or do you have a story you're basing these on?

I rikey. I feel the same way Lukias does about it...

Are there good marker how-to sites online? I've always been interested, but I think I'd need a starting point first...

I always like seeing your concept work Jason! The pose you gave him really works nicely. I'm still trying to get markers right. But I do agree, a bit more shading with the markers would make the character stand out more.

Keep up the great work!

Another great piece of art!

The armor is very convincing and the tattoo on the face fits perfectly.

Great job...

fuddo- Thanks for putting your link there. The pic is coming along nicely. I think you need to start posting some of your work up. But i would say that that picture of the guy shooting would go under works in progress section. He needs a face. let me see it when you done =) Keep it up dude. we only get better with practice.

Jez- Two smily faces?

Jason, these are well swift! Nice clean design. My only crit is that there could be a greater sense of depth to bring the characters 'out' a bit more. Nice work!

BTW - Sorry for going mad-ass a while back.

I think they are all great, my only crit is on the very first one, his left hand (our right) looks kinda awkward to me, as if it needs to be further to the right, other than that... Great! I love his expression.

[edit]- Just out of interest, those of you who use markers, what sort do you use? Where would i go about accumulating some? I'm looking to move on in that direction.

Its ok. I just wanted to show how incredible your work was compared to my meager offerings. I can take it down if you want?
