gotta love the face. Really good.
But in my taste/opinion you should consider changing the color of the shirt, or atleast add more hue variations to tone it down a bit: The color of the shirt is my most hated color..purple..Noone has ever used purple and gotten away with it( including Boris Vallejo..lol)
Nothing really bad, just my color taste;-)

Very solid looking piece, doesn't look like just a test. I like the style a lot. Do I see a Justin Sweet influence a little in there? I don't mind the shirt color but it could maybe have some more hue variations (just a bit) as Veb said.

Yup, very distinctive face. The highlights on the cloth look good too. Very radiating. The gloves look a little too shiney (like bowling balls) Mabey more of a satin highlight. |

I've always liked your style and paintings, Boom The face looks awesome! What about making the folds bigger? and take away some of them. It's a little too much going on there i think. Also maybe tone down the contrast a little.
The painting looks really great!
Have to go back to work...See ya.

very kool boom, definetely love the face. Kinda see a fabryish influence there.
I agree the purple is abit too strong for my liking too. Maybe block the lower robe with more of a midtone and use the purple u have for the stronger highlights?
do you plan to work this some more or leave it as it is?? |

Thanx for the replys guys. Its nice to know that I'm on the right track...
First of, I agree about the color of the shirt. Don't know why I didn't see that...
Toast! - Well, I'm a big fan of Seeg. I believe he is one of the most accomplished artist around here at the moment. I would be a fool not to look at his paintings, tutorials or whatever for inspiration.
Bizarde - thx. dude. The stuff you've been posting lately is simply amazing.
Veb - You're right. Good suggestions. And thanks also
Rhomb - well, it was just a test. Done in an hour and a half. The same goes for Justin Sweet as what I said about Seeg. Sweet's work is among the best I have seen. Ever.
Mickie - thx, my friend. Nice comments on the folds. Since this was just something I had to test, I didn't really felt it nessecary(sp?) to use reference, thus the folds are more graphic than realistic. But you're right, ofcause. Aren't you always?
Cos - thx dude. Good suggestions too. I don't plan to follow this up. I'll remember what everyone said here and hopefully improve on the next one.
Zenonithus - heh. Only one comment on the gloves. Actually I was expecting more comments on the gloves than the rest of the picture... And you're right.
Frost - thx, my friend. Following lead, are you? That doesn't seem like you, eh?
Sear - heh. I promise not to use that color again for a very long time. Okay?
Napalm - I don't think that I have ever been compared with Sam Keith before, but since I really like his work, I'll take that as a compliment.

hehe. i haven't decided if i like the shirt color or not but anyways i like the fact that you dare to experiment with non-conventional color schemes. and i think that micke has a good point about those folds.
yep. otherwise this very solid work (as always!)

S4Sb - mickes style? Hmmm... I have heard that before, but I don't think this one looks like something micke would do. He's too good for that.
Tayete - thx.
Janne - Yes. My intent was do give the shirt a eyecathing color, but I do think (like others) that I went a little overboard.
Biggun01 - practice, practice. Painter was a big mystery to me also alittle while back. Seeing very nice stuff from Veb, Saffron, Jason Manley, Janne and others made the difference. Now I can't go back...

I'm in the 'like' category too...Great stuff very stylish I'd have to agree with you and disagree with S4Sb about the Micke comparison. Your styles are rather different |
