Hi all!
I'm open to crits on this one, though its pretty much done. Its a teaser image for the comic I'm working on in what I laughingly call my spare time. As I get farther along I'll be posting panels and pages in the "work in progress" section. Most of this work is just for me to work my chops in a non-3D workspace.
Now rip it up !
At request, a little smaller, also removed some of the aliasing. The line work will take a little longer

u might want to follow up that comic styling with some comic lines... make the edges more defined with darker solid lines
just my opinion tho the pic looks great

Shardik- You're right, I was noticing the pencil lines pretty hardcore when I posted the image. Oddly, im print it doesn't show up quite as noticably.
The other thing I've noticed in this version is the bad aliasing near a couple of edges...
After seeing some of the other work up here, I think I'll definately re-visit this one.
Spring- Thanks! She's modeled loosley after a little girl my wife takes care of. This pic was the first real color study I did for her. |

Hmm,
Just two things I noticed: The polestaff needs a clear lining in the perspective, it is not clear how the cylinder is standing in the room, if you get what I mean (my english is not the best, I know) and the right arm seems a bit strange, when you look for a longer period.
But it is very dynamic and has the right feel for a splashpage of a comic, I think...

I agree, I think the lines should be solid instead of sketchy looking.. also it doesnt really look like hes holding the pole. It is a cute peice of work tho... good work.. keep it up.

Hi Highttop! Thanks, but I'm afraid the planet was done with Flaming Pear's plugin for generating procedural planetoids, so other than its use as a compositional element, I can't realy take credit for it.
On a semi related note, flawed as it is (the arm and hand, most notably) I'm afraid I'm abandoning this one to finish the rest of the book. I'm hoping that I'll have learned enough from this illustration to not make the same mistakes. The new images will prolly show up in the work in progress segment occassionally. |
