There are some awesome colorings that I have seen on here and I was just wondering.......
Is it best to have a line art that has little or no shading....or
Is it best to color a pic that is a sketch that has lots of shading.....a pic that comes to mind is the one from roundeye?
any input is appreciated, thanks! |

Little or no shading. You shade as you color. |

thanks for the reply....I think maybe the best way is to learn photoshop and experiment.
Anyone got some useful links that can help me out? |

Hey Clueless,
Personaly I prefer to just start from a loose sketch because as I work you always find things that I want to change. If I have already spent countless hours shading then I will be less likely to want to make changes and things can end up a little stiff. |

its HARD to colour when its fully rendered in greyscale, esspecially if you use the method people here seem to like which is make a new layer above and set it to 'multiply'. the colours only come through if white or light colours are underneath, so its good for comic line-art, but they become muddy fast if its grey. if its fully rendered grey you have a better chance using full or near full opacity brushes. |
