It's not terribly refined, but that's what happens when you make a painting for a homework assignment. The assignment was to create a picture with symbolic coloring.

In my pic, the blue represents the cold hearted and mysteriousness of the vampire, and the red lighting represents the evil and rage hidden within.

Accually, I just bulls$&%ed my way through this one. Rip it to shreds an critique the crap out of it.

Wow, this certainly got lost in the forums.
I would appreciate it if anyone had anything to say about this pic. I'm relatively new at this digital paint thing and I want to hear any input on what works and what needs improvement.

Sooo.... Please post something!

pretty cool, actually, surprised it slipped through the cracks. guess people are busy posting all your base and eminem... hehehe... as for critique, that's hard to do unless something really bugs you about a pic, and nothing really bugs me about this pic, nice.

I think this is pretty neat. I remember seeing it a while back but I was too rushed to reply. I'm sort of surprised nobody offered any critiques.

The one thing that really jumps out at me is all of the black. It's a little weird to me to see things shaded that way. Maybe try shading with darker low-saturated colors rather than black itself.

Maybe try curving the lips around the teeth a little more as well. I think this is the most common thing I see with vampire pictures that throws me off, the teeth. It seems as though the teeth are just painted onto a face, that they aren't really in his mouth. If you've ever worn those stick on vampire caps at Halloween, you should know how your lips are a little distorted with the extra bulk in there. It looks at though his teeth are protruding from his upper lip rather than his gums

I think I would like this a whole lot more if there was only one hand holding back the curtain - the bottom one. Just because I can't imagine pulling curtains aside like that, but it's a personal opinion.

I love this guy's expression, very mean Keep working on this and post the results!

Beth

I agree with JEZEBEL: much better with just one hand opening the courtain.

Well, it seems like the red lighting is getting in fashion; lately I've seen many pics with this kind of light.
