unless im completly oblivious to the principles of car design...which i probably am...i think overall it's cool, but maybe the hood could be a bit longer....at it's current length (to me) it makes it look unrealistic...

looks cool...what app was it built in? Here are some ideas
I'd take a look at your edges, the car body has almost no thickness...add just a little bit at #1
put a darker texture on the inner wheelwell surface #2...usually this has a good bumpyness to it as well which will contrast with the painted body.
#3 Bevel this edge slightly, just enough to give it some thickness and to pick up highlights. You should always have some thickness those sharp edges almost never exist.
#4 Same with the lines for the doors, trunk, etc. Should be some thickness here.

I like the low wideness of the back panel, but with the thickness and bevels that natec's pointed out. A good magazine if you can get it is called "Car Styling" perhaps you can take a look and determine your design/modeling choices by taking note to the details and paneling. Remember the parts are usually made by machines so it needs to look assembled somewhat - this give it strength and believability. Ed-- |

Well it looks like you guys had fun pick at it!
I put some black trim on the fenders to round out those edges.
My next time around I'll take more note to the thickness of the body.
the hood length was on purpose, I sunk the engine cavity toward a large hump under the dash area. The windshield was elongated to match the overall profile of the hood. Look at the new 2000 Camero.
I believe a strait six would fit in there. :-)
My buddy has a 2000 Camero with the dash layout similar to the one in this car. You'll have a hard time cleaning in there but it isn't a implausible design.
ED LEE- thanks I'll look for the CAR Styling MAG if I can find it. What stores have you seen it at.
Thanks all for the relpies!
This thing is now taking a bit of time to render.. About an 1hr to render at 1024x800

Well since I din't have time talk much on the car. I'll plop out some modeling info you-z that care to know.
I suppose that it would be a hard car to work on since the fire wall goes over the engine a little. This car was an old idea that I started way back on paper or CAD drawings. I wouldn't want to be the person changing the spark plugs. Now onto modeling info.
_________________________________
I modeled all of the car in RHINO1.1 and rendered in 3DStudio MAX 3.1
This thing started out its life as a SPHERE and got cut down the center leaving the apex points at the rear and front of the car. Then I pulled groups of points into a more squarish shape. Looking at the side profile I made a few curves to get a feel for the overall shape of the car. From there I Pulled more points from the car in the windows and pulled up the fenders.
After I had my basic shape. I then projected curves onto the body, cutting away the wheel wells and light windows etc.
I made the wheel into sperate parts such as rims and tire walls and tire tred. for texure purposes.
after all that I offset the windows and blended with lofts, for a slight rim. Hardly noticable right now.
I proceeded to make license plates light bulbs windshild wipers (lofts and extruded curves) door handels and locks were made from lofted curves also.
Then it was time to create the seats. very simpl shape. I started with the back of the seat, By creating a basic profile curve from the front view. I then made a circular cure to follow the profile curve. It will leave a hole in the center (like a donut). I filled it in with a loft. I then pulled points from the bottom of the seatback, into the bottom of seat. Making that all one object. :-)
Console was made of lofts. building from the bottom of the windshield to the drive line hump.
Well I hope I made sence. Everything else that I missed is basicly the same stuff all over agian.

All materials are ratraced. and about 30 or so lights mostly omni with limits set on them, a couple of spot lights for some key areas. Well it's got some high gloss what do you think! :-)
Nice and shinny, I'll model something a little more practical shortly in the future.
Maybe a sport sadan or pickup truck.

Hope this helps anyone!
Later folks

Looks really good Wyatt Turner. And the detail on those tires is amazing Anthony. I can't wait for computers to be fast enough to allow us to play video games with that kind of detail. ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |

Thanks ED LEE, Your so kind to jump on that for me. I'll go and get one of those mag's I love this kind of stuff. I got piles of art books. Now you just added to my collection.
Here are some good sites I ran across, when looking for concept car sites.
I hope this helps anyone, I'm sure some have see these site, these are some of the cool ones I ran across. I have a load of them, I'm trying to get around to updating my links section on my site. so I'll have a few to look at. I have been getting a large crowd of Japanesse at my site lately since I made this car. It's been fun talking with them. They sure are into cars over there. I find most car modeling sites from there.
Have fun!

Looked on a map too see where that place is and it isn't far from my work. A few blocks away. So I guess I'l look for a mag called car styling. I havent really played in that part of town yet. My work place is in the Pioneer part of town around James street. If you've be here. Well I'll stop yaking for now.

Looks pretty nice despite a few problems.
I'm working on modeling some cars as well. Not as easy as I thought it would be but I'm working away on it.
My plan was to use blue prints and loft the surfaces but I may use a birail or something.
Not sure..
