I sketched her on my lunch break and inked her when I got home last night. I like fengs style but have a long way before my marker work is any thing close to his. |

As much as I admire Feng's work, I see more life in this pic. Feng's machinery and buildings look great with his style, but for living things I like your Egyptian more.
#&&/ you only talked about the way you use markers. Anyway, lovely style.
That is really nice. So nice, I even bothered to add the bold tags :]
Makes me feel like coloring her, and normally I don't like coloring lines :]

Cool matt. Thats a start. I have never worked with them befor (primarily never had the cash for it)and then I looked up this site with Fengs marker work and thought no time like the present. I hope you try em out matt. we only get better with practice. Id then like to hear about how it goes for you. Tip ive found is A) find a good size to work at. not to big. Those markers run out fast if you work big. I did this on a 8 and a half by 11. my next is going to be half that size. |

Really nice =)
If you want a crit, mine would be that I don't think those two thingys she's holding would be angled like that... I think they'd cross where her hand is?
Great other then that

I do most of my color with Markers. Took a couple of Marker Illustration classes in college. Just got use to using markers instead of paints and dyes. Just starting to play with Photoshop though.

Hi there, this is my first post.. just thought i'd comment on the use of markers.. I'm in Industrial Design here at Auburn University in the great redneck state of Alabama, any way, product design conceptualization consists almost totally of sketching, inking and marker rendering, Prisma and Tria's are great, there is also a brand called Design, btw you will find that Prisma has a sort of blue tint while Tria's have a brownish tint to them.. Try them both, I like Prisma, with practice, you can create some stunning work. :O)
Cheers!

Hey visigoth what are you talking about??/ Looks egyptian to me??/ Anyways hey Jason love your work with the markers...Unlike feng your marker work is not over-done ...hmm
what I mean is your work has more of a disney concept art look then a film concept art look...softer and more emotional....something like that. I myself do all my b&w concept work in merker and pen...very fast and good looking stuff..doug chaing did nothing but to help the style out.I use Tombo markers for this..ever tried them ??they are very effective and have a paint brush tip. Here is something I did in about 20 mins with a tombo marker and micron pen
Jason notice by the leg that I start by using the marker to do a rouph scetch of whatever is in my mind then go back with the pen and add detaill it is a great technique for getting ideas out on paper fast...do you do the same thing??? Your work is great eye candy do you have anything else...do you have a website..please post more as Feng seems to have disappeared!

I think visigoth's right, her outfit looks more modern with some 30's influence ... and maybe a victorian style headdress... but hey who's tracking time here, still a great looking drawing though, I love how you mixed the warm and cool tones in her clothing and skin....

This is nice. You are being a little hard on yourself, Jason. I think the hardest thing about character designing is actually GIVING them CHARACTER!! I think you've succeeded with this one. You did a fine job with the markers, too. Maybe a little white gouache in places would help, but I always say that. |

...What in the...
Someone want to explain this sentance to me...? Egypt may have traded with the Americas in it's prime (they've found nicotene and cocaine in the bodies of some mummies), but they were halfway across the world...

Wish I didnt have a job some times or id have more to show. I was doodling yesterday and my boss came in when I was sapposed to be working on a 3d file. oops. Any way thanks for sharing your techniek.
