This is going to sound strange, but when I first glanced at this, I thought I was looking down the corridor of a cave...With the bright and blue light at the cave's opening. The black negative space would be the unlit foreground...

Oh well just me babbling! Nice eitherway

I saw the cave thing too...but more of a landscape...yuor black is too black and harsh...that makes it read as a flat shape. You can make it a slightly different color, and pay attention to your edges of your figure...make some soft and some harsh, also the contour is very important it needs feeling and anatomy, dont just throw it in...Not saying you did, just my experience.

Good face, when I saw it
You need to work on your volume...everythign looks flat...also use less white...dont use white just to lighten..try adding a lighter color to your local hue first, depending on th ecolor of your light source...alot of times add yellow first..save white for highlights...EXTREME highlights.

take care
